450,000+ in NC w/o power on Xmas eve due to climate alarmism | Eastern NC Now

wind / solar not producing; traditional power has been curtailed

ENCNow

Weather-dependant wind and solar combined with a major cold snap is wrecking havoc on the electric grid, leaving 458,000 in North Carolina alone without power on Christmas Eve.  In what Duke Energy calls a "rolling blackout" to keep the grid stable, some areas have been without power for over six hours.

As often happens in cold snaps or heat waves, wind and solar are underperforming, and government mandates have forced conventional power to give way to those unreliable weather-dependant sources.  Now there is not enough conventional power capacity to meet demand.  NC utility monopoly Duke Energy, which is very "woke" has been pushing to reduce conventional power generation even lower to put more relianace on unreliable wind and solar.

This is likely to only get worse in the future as a result of NC's Green New Deal, HB951 which forces North Carolina to reduce CO2 by 70% by 2030.  That was rammed through the legislature with strongarm tactics by RINO Senate President Phil Berger and RINO House Speaker Timmy Moore.  RINO Senator Jim Perry of Kinston also played a major role.

In contrast, the EU's Green Deal, which caused massive electric rate increases across that continent even before the Ukraine invasion, only requires a 50% reduction. by 2030.

Also imagine the wreckage to electric production from a major hurricane.  Conventional electric production facilities are not vulnerable to hurricanes although their power line distribution systems are.  Wind turbines and solar panels, however, are highly vulnerable to hurricanes.  Instead of days or at worst weeks to restore downed lines from a hurricane, wind and solar would take months to restore generation capability from destroyed wind turbines and solar farms.

Here is a solar farm after a hurricane has passed through:

Unless the legislature has the good sense to repeal HB951, our state is in deep trouble.

Just look at what Global Warming is doing to the Mid West and the North East. Those poor polar bears can move more South now.

Votes were begged for. Assurances were given that it would NOT pass the Senate. BUT, it did. Right is right and wrong is wrong. Voodooing HB951 into passage WAS WRONG!!!!!!
