Mrs. Juanita Maddox Noltemeier, age 90, a longtime resident of Washington, NC, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on Monday, February 4, 2013 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice in Greenville.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 5:00 PM, February 16, 2013, at the NC Estuarium, 223 East Water Street, Washington, NC. Juanita was born in Henry County, Tennessee, on June 15, 1922, daughter of the late Romie Randolf Maddox and the late Amanda Dee Poyner Maddox. She was a "country girl" and enjoyed living in Tennessee until she met the love of her life -- a pilot named Al.

She married Alvin Paul Noltemeier on September 9, 1944, and they moved to North Carolina in 1954 to make Washington their home. They had one child, Deborah Dee Noltemeier, whom they both adored throughout their lives. Juanita was a wonderful Mother and homemaker. She was loving, kind and thoughtful. Her hobbies were cooking, sewing, gardening, birding and ballroom dancing. Juanita's yard was adorned with gorgeous roses, azaleas and camellias. She enjoyed working in the yard and watching the birds. Most of all, she loved taking care of and spending time with her daughter, Debbie.

After Debbie went to college, Juanita worked at Carter's Dress Shop for the next ten years. She had a special talent for fashion and enjoyed helping other people "dress their best." She was a beautiful woman with a loving spirit who now resides in Heaven. Juanita requested to be remembered by planting something in your yard to celebrate eternal life and the beauty of nature.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Fred Thomas Maddox, who was killed in WWII over Germany while serving in the US Army Air Force. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Paul Noltemeier.

Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Dee Noltemeier and her husband William Jeffrey Cobb, both of Greenville, and her beloved four-legged grandchildren: Flash, Amanda, Gem, Starlight and Cowboy.

Because of her love of animals and nature, memorial contributions may be made in Juanita's memory to the Beaufort County Humane Society, P.O. Box 8, Washington, NC 27889; PTRF, P.O. Box 1854, Washington, NC 27889 or to the charity of one's choice.

Online condolences may be offered to the family by visiting www.paulfuneralhome.com.

Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington is honored to serve Juanita Noltemeier's family.
