    Mrs. Marjorie J. "Bunny" Manning, age 73, a resident of 108 Landon Drive, Washington, NC died Friday, February 22, 2013 at her home.

    A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 24, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Washington officiated by Dr. Jimmy Moore. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Zoph Potts, Murray Whitford, Jack Cherry, Gerald May, Mike Schatz, Robbie Crisp, Greg Crisp and Don Williams will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Manning's grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

    Mrs. Manning was born in Richmond, Virginia on November 14, 1939, daughter of the late Martin Luther Jernigan and Edna Mae Roberson Jernigan. On September 14, 1958, she married William Charlie Manning, who survives. Mrs. Manning or "Mrs. Bunny" as she was affectionately known, was very involved in the W.E.E. School program at the First Baptist Church, where she had served as a teacher for a number of years. Mrs. Manning was a very faithful and active member of First Baptist Church having been a member of the bereavement committee, a Sunday School teacher, and a member of the Joy Sunday School Class. For several years Mrs. Manning volunteered in the church office on Monday mornings where she helped record the church offerings. Mrs. Manning's greatest joy was her family, loving and caring for her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchild.

    Mrs. Manning is survived by her husband, Charlie, of the home, her children William Charlie Manning, Jr. and wife Marcia of Columbia, NC , Jimmy Keith Manning of Anderson, SC, Michele Lynne Manning and fianc? Will Mayo of Washington, NC, and Renee Manning Hudson and husband Chuck of Washington, NC, her grandchildren Aaron Manning, Jordan Manning, Landon Manning all of Columbia, NC, Brandon Manning and Bethany Manning both of Greenville, NC, Joshua Elks, Jacob Elks and Dawson Elks all of Washington, NC, Kimberlyn Jones and Kathryn Jones of Washington, NC and Holly Hudson of Winterville, NC and a great grandson; Zephyn Manning of Greenville, NC; a brother; Martin L. Jernigan of Niceville, Fla., a half- sister; Jan Jernigan of Columbia, S.C. her step mother; Polly Jernigan also of Columbia, S.C. and two nieces.

    The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at the home located at 108 Landon Drive, Washington, NC 27889.

    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, W.E.E. School Scholarship Fund, 113 North Harvey Street, Washington, NC 27889 or to the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, 1209 Brown Street, Washington, NC 27889.
