Students And Campus Staffers Caught Tearing Down Posters Of Missing Israelis | Eastern NC Now

    Students and campus staffers have been caught - on multiple college campuses in the United States - tearing down posters of missing or kidnapped Israeli citizens in the wake of the devastating Hamas terrorist attacks that took place just over a week ago.

    Several students at New York University were caught on camera ripping the posters down.

    NYU's Students Supporting Israel group shared a close-up photo of the posters, which the students had stuffed into a nearby trash can.

    "Today, we witnessed 2 NYU students violently tearing down posters of kidnapped babies, mothers, and grandmothers hanging outside of NYU Buildings. This was done in a laughing manner, exhibiting complete disregard for Jewish lives and Jewish safety. HERE ARE THE PICTURES," the caption read.

    According to Stop Antisemitism, the two students were later identified as Yazmeen Deyhimi - a pre-law major who had previously interned at the Anti-Defamation League - and Hafiza Khalique.

    Deyhimi admitted to her part in tearing down the posters - and called for the safe return of the Israeli hostages - in a since-deleted Instagram post, according to a report from the New York Post.

    "I have found it increasingly difficult to know my place as a biracial brown woman, especially during these highly volatile times. I have felt more and more frustrated about the time we currently find ourselves in, and misplaced that anger into actions that are not an accurate representation of who I am as a person," she wrote. "In this age of social media and digital footprint, these moments of anger are selfish and self-absorbed, and not reflective of who I am as a person or who my family had raised me to be."

    A similar scene played out at University of Pennsylvania, where a campus library staffer was caught on camera pulling Israeli hostage posters down - but when he was confronted, he blamed Israel for the terrorist-launched rocket that misfired and struck a Gaza hospital instead of landing across the border in Israel.

    He was later identified as UPenn Law School employee Matthew Wranovics.


    Outside of academia, a Miami dentist and a friend were spotted tearing down photos of Israeli hostages as they walked down a busy street, according to Stop Antisemitism.

    Dr. Ahmed ElKoussa, identified in the video, was subsequently let go by his dental practice, CG Smile, along with a statement condemning "terrorist groups, actions, or supporters." In addition to being let go from his job, ElKoussa was scrubbed from the practice's website and social media pages.
