Trans-Identifying Volleyball Players Take Over Women’s College Game: Reports | Eastern NC Now

    Multiple men who identify as women took the floor in a women's college volleyball game in Ontario, Canada, last month, according to reporting from conservative outlet Rebel News.

    Rebel News reporter David Menzies attended a game between the Seneca Sting and Centennial Colts and recorded some of the competition, saying that between the two teams, he witnessed five trans-identifying men take the floor. Three trans-identifying players on Seneca and two on Centennial were on the court for the entire game, and Seneca ended up taking the victory, Rebel News reported.

    Multiple other outlets, including The New York Post, Fox News, and The Blaze, also reported on the Canadian volleyball match dominated by men who identify as women.

    Menzies said he attended the volleyball game after getting a tip from a female volleyball "insider" who was concerned that "the situation is so dire that it is no longer safe for biological women to compete." Rebel News reported that the source alleged that there had been two recent head injuries to female players caused by trans-identifying men competing in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA), the league that includes Seneca and Centennial.

    Last week, the OCAA published a fact sheet that included answering questions on trans-identifying athletes, saying that it "is aware that participation of transgender student-athletes has recently received public attention."

    The fact sheet directs readers to the OCAA's transgender policy, which states: "Student-athletes may compete on the sport team that corresponds with either their sex assigned at birth or their gender identity, provided that at all times student-athletes are in compliance with the Canadian Anti-Doping Program."

    The OCAA fact sheet added, "Any policies that would prohibit the participation of transgender student-athletes within the OCAA would be a violation of the Ontario Human Rights Code."

    Throughout Rebel News' attempt to report on the volleyball game, Menzies said he and his crew were confronted by facility staff and security guards who said he could stay and watch but couldn't record the event. After the game, the reporter asked Centennial coach Andrew Mallory why he allowed male players to compete on his team. Mallory responded, "I'm not."


    Seneca, the team that reportedly has three trans-identifying players, currently leads the standings in the OCAA's East division with a 17-1 record.

    The Ontario collegiate volleyball game is the latest in a string of stories about trans-identifying men dominating women's sports just in the past few weeks. Last month, Hailey Davidson, a man who identifies as a woman, placed first in the NXXT women's golf tournament in Florida, inching himself closer to an LPGA qualifying tour. Trans-identifying track athlete Sadie Schreiner also made headlines last month after setting two new records for the Rochester Institute of Technology. Schreiner also received the Liberty League Women's Track & Field Performer of the Week award.
