    Vidant Endocrinology - Greenville joins network of care

    GREENVILLE     Vidant Medical Group continues to provide access to health care close to home with the addition of Vidant Endocrinology - Greenville, a new physician practice under the direction of Dr. Sylvester Odeke.

    Vidant Medical Group is a multispecialty physician and provider group that is part of Vidant Health. Vidant Health is a network of interconnected physician practices, more than 12,000 employees, 10 hospitals, home health and hospice programs and wellness facilities.

    Dr. Odeke has held clinical teaching positions in the division of endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, first as assistant professor, then associate professor, for the past decade. He served his residency in general internal medicine at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh and was a fellow in endocrinology , diabetes and metabolism at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia.

    "I am excited by the opportunity to join Vidant Health as the first endocrinologist in the Vidant Medical Group," said Odeke.

    Dr. Odeke has a special interest in thyroid disorders, including thyroid cancer, and adrenal and pituitary disorders, and he will also evaluate, diagnose and treat both acute and chronic endocrine disorders such as diabetes and other diseases and disorders of the endocrine system. The endocrine system is a complex group of glands that produce hormones to help control various activities in the body, including reproduction, metabolism, growth and development. Some of the most common endocrine diseases include diabetes, thyroid disorders, calcium and bone abnormalities including osteoporosis and vitamin D deficiency, adrenal and pituitary gland disorders, male and female hormonal imbalances and cancer of the endocrine glands.

    Vidant Endocrinology - Greenville is located at 2460 Emerald Place, in shared offices with Vidant Internal Medicine-Greenville. Practice hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. To schedule an appointment, or for more information, call (252) 830-2021.
