    Mrs. Frances Crandall Roebuck Larkin, age 93, of Washington, NC, died Friday morning July 5, 2013.

    A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday July 8, 2013 in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington, N.C., conducted by the Rev. Danny Allen.

    Mrs. Larkin was born in Washington, N.C. on October 27, 1919. She was the daughter of Edgar Leonidas and Essie Crandall Roebuck, and was a graduate of Washington High School and East Carolina Teacher’s College, now ECU, in Greenville, N.C.

    In 1943, she married Dr. Ernest Waddill (Tad) Larkin, Jr., and they shared 62 years of joy together.

    Frances was an avid gardener and excelled in golf, tennis, and sailing. She was a very active member of the First United Methodist Church and loved its prayer garden, but most of all she loved her husband, her family, and her friends.

    Mrs. Larkin is survived by her son, Dr. Ernest Waddill Larkin, III and his wife Sara Moss Larkin of Greenville; her daughter, Linda Larkin Boyer and her husband Earl Ross Boyer of Washington; four grandchildren, Rebecca Larkin Minor and her husband John Jesse Minor, of Tucson, Az; Paul Brubeck Larkin and his fiancé Margaret Ferguson Carr, of San Francisco, Ca; Timothy Ross Boyer and his wife Ginny Moore Boyer of Washington; Amy Boyer Martin and her husband Joseph Stephen Martin of Washington; one great-grandson, Olliver Ross Boyer of Washington; two step-grandchildren, Dr. Sara Ashley McCowen Botterill and her husband Jason Robert Botterill of Lynchburg, Va; and Christopher Andrew McCowen and his wife Amiga Saket McCowen of Chiang Rai, Thailand.

    She was preceded in death by one baby boy and one grandson, Jeffrey Neal Larkin, also by two brothers, J. Max Roebuck and E. Leon Roebuck Jr., a sister-in-law, Mickey Taylor, and a brother-in-law, James Vann Larkin.

    The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm Sunday, July 7, at Paul Funeral Home in Washington, and at other times at the home of Ernest and Sara Larkin, 366 Summer Haven Lane, Washington, N.C.

    Those wishing to remember Frances with a memorial contribution could consider the prayer garden at the First United Methodist Church, 304 W. Second St., Washington N.C. 27889, or the N.C. Estuarium, 223 East Water St., Washington, N.C., or any charity of one’s choice.
