Harris cannot beat Trump. Here's why | Eastern NC Now

Short of some unforeseen catastrophe Trump will win easily.

Daniel Greenfield, writing at Front Page Magazine has an analysis of Kamala Harris:

Forget her awkward off-putting personality and her habit of speaking like a dim-witted kindergarten schoolteacher. Those are public-facing problems and public-facing problems have to be pretty extreme for them to be disqualifying. Dems stuck with Biden until he had a total debate breakdown.

Dems would like another Obama, and Kamala isn’t that, and they’d settle for a normal human being who isn’t some nightmarish hybrid of Chauncey Gardiner, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama with none of the positive aspects, and all of the negative ones, but the media and every establishment voice will spend the remaining months telling us that Kamala is the embodiment of the right side of history.

From a practical politics standpoint anyone (or almost) anyone can be turned into a viable public-facing figure with enough cultural firepower behind them. Look at what they managed to do with an obscure  Vermont socialist crank and an obnoxious Westchester hipster of Puerto Rican descent.

The real issue is that Kamala is leadership kryptonite. Her original presidential campaign dissolved into infighting between her staff and her sister. And she dropped out before she could even contest a primary.

As vice president, she not only made zero impact on anything, but her office staff abandoned ship. The only thing she made into a signature issue was opposing Israel over the war with Hamas.

That’s not a dealbreaker, but her inability to run anything is. Biden was an empty space that his staff filled. Kamala isn’t an empty space, she’s worse, like a lot of CBC members, she seems to be a bad boss with a penchant for nurturing drama around her. That wouldn’t be a first in the White House, but it’s especially damaging during a campaign.

Biden, as terrible as he was, had a circle of loyalists who served him to the bitter end. He tended to be abusive, but like every successful D.C. lifer, he had people he count on. That’s why he lasted this long even well past the point where he could meaningfully function.

Kamala does not. Her people come and go. She has few loyalists and her staff tend to wash out quickly. It’s one thing for this to be the case for female CBC house members (which it often is) but it’s a major problem for a presidential candidate running a national campaign. It means she doesn’t have meaningful support and in a business where politicians can’t do anything without loyal staffers, it’s a hole. A big one.

This isn’t something the average person cares about, but people in D.C. politics do. They see it as a serious failing that will impede her ability to succeed. It’s why they don’t think she can go the distance. And why they’re hesitant to get behind her.

Observer Commentary:

We can’t argue with Greenfield.   But we would add what may well be the determining factor in Harris’ campaign and thus the future of the Democrat Party.  That is:   Race.  To win, Harris will have to retain the solid Democrat voter, but that is not sufficient to beat Donald Trump.   She must attract a substantial block of independent voters while offering her Democrat voters reason to support her.   That is no small task.  Maybe impossible.

Joe Biden could not have won without that block of voters.   But what he could count on was a solid Democrat turnout in the heavily Blue urban states.  Harris will not be able to do that.  More than likely, she will drive more Black Democrats away (to sit out this election) than she will attract independent voters.  Meanwhile, expect Donald Trump to be working hard to pick up those Democrats.

Moreover, Biden got the benefit of the fraudulent “vote” in heavily Democrat Blue states.  Without that, Biden would never have won.  Harris will not have that benefit.  Even if she finds a way to hold onto the Black vote it will likely not be sufficient to beat Trump.

Your far left assertions, Bolshevik Bob, usually come with nothing to substaniate them. I guess you do not want to cite your far left talking points. You seem to be jealous of those on these boards who can offer substance to back up their statements.

IF u want 2preserve th Constitution, Kamala must not b allowed 2b Prez. She's not qualified per th Constitution as she's not a NaturalBornCitizen. She was born a dual citizen, so she certainly isnt a NaturalAmerican. A NaturalAmericanCitiz en is 1 who, when born, can be none other than an American citizen. How can this be? It is because, when born here, ones parents were also USA citizens. This baby can be none other. No other nation can claim that person. It is a pure American. The only place in govt that requires a "pure" American is the Presidency.

If this were not the rule then, Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán could b t father of a future Prez, since he has several children born in t USA. Our Founders feared the King of England becoming the father of a future Prez.

In th Constitution, it states a Senator must b a citizen, but when it mentions th Presidency it states, 1 must b a NBC.

The Founders wrote an exception 4those alive at t Founding.
Kamala,Cruz,Vivek,Haley,Rubio r not NBC.

Sen. Bernie Sanders has admitted in an interview that "The DNC did circle the wagons for Biden in the primary" and as a result "we are where we are at". DNC means Democratic National Committee". So a leading figure in the Un-Democratic Party is admitting they abused power to frogstangle party democracy in their own primary, giving Biden a free pass at the nomination. Now the party heavies have kicked him out so they can manipulate who they want into power.

Our system has been based on two parties that respect democratic values. When one refuses to operate by democratic norms within its own organization, it is a danger to the country because it is likely to run the country the very same way.

I an a conservative Reagan Republican who supported Ted Cruz as long as he was running in 2016, and leaned to deSantis in the beginning in 2024, although also comfortable with Trump and Scott.
