Arrests in Europe should make Americans glad free speech won here Nov. 5 | Eastern North Carolina Now

when citizens can be arrested for criticizing a politician, they are in a police state

Freedom of speech was on the ballot in the US on November 5, and free speech won.  The most anti-free speech ticket in American history, Harris-Walz, was soundly defeated.  Recent arrests and police investigations in Europe are a stark warning of what could have been in store for America.

In Germany, a 64 year old pensioner retweeted a meme portraying the controversial Economics Minister from the far left Green Party as an "idiot".  Given the economic calamity that has befallen Germany under the recently collapsed left-liberal government, many Germans would agree with him.  However, the police were not amused.  They arrested him for "hate speech".

Earlier this year, it was a French woman who had never been involved in politics who found the police at her door to arrest her for posting online that President Macron was "a piece of filth".  She asked if they were kidding.  They weren't.  A few weeks later, two Frenchmen were arrested for flipping the "bird" to President Macron as his entourage drove down the street in front of them.

In the UK last week, a woman journalist with the major London newspaper, The Daily Telegraph found the police at her door investigating a social media post a year old for "hate speech" but would not reveal what post it was, the subject, or who the alleged "victim" was.  Both her newspaper and the Free Speech Union of the UK, of which she is a member, have criticized the police action.  The tweets came during the time soon after the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel.

Elon Musk has weighed in, declared that the UK should make Orwell fiction again.

When citizens are not allowed to criticize their politicians and government officials, they are not living in a democracy.  Much of Europe is headed that direction, but America escaped this path thanks to the GOP victory on Nov.5.

The guy wearing a hood is worried about people who wear hoods. Absurd times we live in.

The things going on in Europe are very concerning. The reports I'm getting from UK are almost unbelievable. Free speech is pretty much dead over there.

The Biden regime has been promoting censorship abroad by collaborating with and funding anti-free speech organizations in other countries. Hopefully that money will be redirected to pro-free speech organizations soon after Trump is sworn in.

In the UK, for example, the Biden regime has been funneling money into a pro=-censorship group, and every bit of that money ought to be redirected to the Free Speech Union.

Bigot Bob's obsession with race knows no bounds. He seems to be suggesting that a white German calling a leftwing white German politician an "idiot" has something to do with race. It doesn't. He is suggesting a white French woman calling the white French president "a piece of filth" has something to do with race. It doesn't. Or how about two white French men flipping the bird to the white French president?

Or then there is the case of the white Finnish former cabinet minister charged with "hate speech" for posting a Bible verse or the two white French feminist leaders charged with "hate speech" for saying that women needed their own private spaces.

This "hate speech" BS is way out of hand. And then there is the far left claiming that any deviation from the official government narrative is "misinformation", "disinformation" or "malinformation". All of that crap is totarliarian with a capital "T".

All of this "hate speech" malarky is being used to try to silence those who oppose illegal immigration. In France, for example, a French senator was indicted for hate speech after posting "immigration kills" after the particularly brutal murder of a young French girl by an illegal alien. It has also been directed against members of the EU parliament who have spoken out against illegal immigration. Those who whine about "hate speech" are totalitarians who ahte FREE speech.
