PM-Support-V-ID2Attorney General Roy Cooper doesn't want Governor McCrory to sign the Voter ID Bill. In fact he is collecting petitions against it.

Please take a moment to tell Governor McCrory that you Support Voter ID and the other election reforms in HB 589 and ask him to sign the bill into law immediately! Let him know that you are part of the overwhelming majority (more than 70 percent) of North Carolina's voters who believe showing an ID to vote just makes commonsense.

Here is a copy of the letter to Governor McCrory:

    Dear Governor McCrory,

I write today to ask you to sign House Bill 589 VIVA/Election Reform.

As you know, the North Carolina legislature made unprecedented and ground breaking strides in reforming taxes, holding the line on spending and starting to reform state government. The landmark election reform bill was one of the most important reforms achieved in 2013. HB 589′s hallmark is it's voter photo identification provision that an overwhelming majority of North Carolinians continue to support.

I support the requirement that voters present voter photo identification before being allowed to cast a vote in North Carolina and urge you to sign the bill immediately. By its very nature, in-person voter fraud is virtually undetectable without a photo ID requirement. The purpose of a voter photo ID requirement is to secure North Carolina's elections for all voters and voter photo ID is the first step in restoring confidence in our electoral system.

I also support the other reforms included in HB 589 and believe that they will help change an old and outdated system that had become confusing and dysfunctional, with no built-in security to protect the integrity of a person's vote.

Governor McCrory, I look forward to celebrating with you as you sign this historic legislation. Thank you for you for the leadership you provide our great state.
