Obama's censorship office goes bankrupt, thanks to Congress Republicans | Eastern North Carolina Now

The key censorship organ in the US government has been an agency located in the State Department established during the Obama regime called the Global Engagement Center.  Its cover story was to counter lies told by Russia and China, but it quickly grew into an agency intent on enforcing the liberal / globalist narrative and censoring any opinions contrary to that narrative.  While ostensibly created to work only in the international space, it was soon conducting much of its operation domestically.  It still worked internationally, giving grants to pro-censorship groups working in other countries.  It was recently outted, for example for giving grants to pro-censorship groups in Brazil.

Now, to the joy of everyone who values freedom of speech, the Global Engagement Center has been forced by the latest budget deal to close up shop and go defunct.  It almost did not happen.  Speaker Mike Johnson in his first 1400 page "continuing resolution" or "cramnibus" where he caved in to the Democrats specifically funded this agency for another year, which conservatives immediately objected to.   Under pressure from conservatives, the continuing resolution that finally passed cut off all funds to the censorship agency.

But as renowned George Washington University Law Professor and free speech stalwart Jonathan Turley points out, while the GEC was the worst offender, there are other government tenacles nurtured by the Biden regime which also push censorship, and also need to be eliminated.
