Born: Oct. 15, 1934, Died: Aug. 14, 2013

Terry Flanagan passed peacefully from this life on August 14, 2013 surrounded by friends and family at the Hospice home of Wake County.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Graham Flanagan and Lillian Joyner Flanagan; sisters, Lillian Joyner (Joy) Bennett and Patsy Flanagan Moye; and daughter, Christman Wolverton-Primm. She is survived by her brother, Edward Graham Flanagan, Jr.; children, Wallace Benjamin Wolverton and Anna Binet Wolverton of Raleigh; son-in-law, Smith Primm; and grandchildren, Nicholas Wolverton Falk, Lillian Elizabeth Wolverton, Emery Wallace Wolverton, Benjamin Alexander Primm, Graham Smith Primm, and Benton Flanagan Primm.

Terry graduated from Greenville High School in Greenville, NC, then matriculated into Holten-Arms Junior College for Women in Washington, D.C. Afterward she graduated from Salem College in Winston Salem, NC while majoring in English and minoring in Spanish.

Soon after graduation, she lived in New York City for six years, working as a tour guide for the United Nations for two of those years. Later, she obtained her Master's Degree in Guidance Counseling from East Carolina University, Greenville, NC. She was also very fond of her role as Manager of all North Carolina Welcome Centers under the Hunt Administration. She was a top-selling real estate agent in Raleigh for many years.

Terry lived a full life. She lived all over North Carolina including Grifton, High Point, Kinston, Belhaven, Washington and Raleigh. In each place she developed life-long friends that to this day describe her as "my favorite", "full of life", "never met a stranger", and "would give the shirt off her back ... as well as yours". Wherever she was she could easily brighten up a room with her incessant humor and gaiety. She was seldom without comment given in a jovial manner and always offered sound advice.

Terry was very generous and often volunteered at places like Christ Episcopal Church and Hospice of Wake County, and her grandchildren's schools. She was especially proud of projects such as renovating and fundraising for the Turnage Theater and volunteering at the Purpose of God Annex Outreach Center for children, both in Washington, NC. Terry was very active, organizing walking groups and was very good at tennis.

Throughout her life she was an avid traveler and has been all over the world including China, India, England, France, Italy, Argentina, Chile, and many more places.

Terry strived to introduce the arts and culture to her children and grandchildren at early ages and continued throughout life. She could easily charm any stranger at a party and often left everyone with smiles on their faces. We will dearly miss Terry (mom/Mimi). We love you and we know that your bright spirit will make God's heavenly kingdom even brighter.

Memorial services will be held at Christ Episcopal Church in Raleigh on Thursday, August 22 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations and memorials can be made to Hospice of Wake County or the Purpose of God Annex Outreach Center, 1015 E. 6th Str., Washington, NC 27889.
