How can we call ourselves a "Free Nation" when Obamacare violates every fundamental freedom that we are supposed to be endowed with by our Creator? | Eastern North Carolina Now

-- Life, Liberty, and Property

Life - Life is devalued by the section of the healthcare bill which sets up the IPAB (Independent Payment Advisory Board). The IPAB is a 15-member panel created by sections 3403 and 10320 (only 7 of which are allowed to be physicans) which has the explicit task of rationing care and keeping medical costs down. Care will be especially rationed to those who have already lived their lives, raised their children, and contributed to society. In other words, it will be rationed to our beloved senior citizens.

Liberty - Liberty is denied in many ways. First, it denies Americans the freedom to manage their own healthcare and decide what is best for them. The Supreme Court has bent over backwards to give women the right to kill their unborn under the name of "privacy," yet the federal courts don't seem to find the same "privacy" right for Americans to manage healthcare and prevent their private information from being turned over to the US Department fo Health & Human Services and then with any other government department or agency that such information can be shared with. Second, liberty is denied when the government forces Americans, especially healthy young adults who rarely need health services, to spend many thousands of dollars each year on its healthcare insurance program when those families can use the money they earn for other things that are of higher priority. Third, liberty is denied when people are told, under the federal healthcare program, which doctors they must see, which services they can use, and what treatments they can seek (even if others are available). Fourth, liberty is denied with all the serious Fourth Amendment violations implicated in the healthcare bill - the invasion of private information that will be confiscated by the government for its federal healthcare data bank and the provision in the bill that calls for the government to conduct home visits for certain groups of Americans - http://www.offthegridnews.com/2013/08/29/forced-home-visits-questions-arise-over-obamacare-provision/#

Property - Property is confiscated by the government (as if the government doesn't confiscate enough of it) because the Supreme Court went out of its way to uphold the healthcare bill by reclassifying the Individual Mandate from a "penalty" to a "tax" (even though Congress went through great lengths to explain why it is a penalty and NOT a tax). The Court inserted its own judgement for that of the legislative branch, which is unconstitutional under the Separation of Powers doctrine and unconstitutional because it exceeds the jurisdiction of the federal courts and Supreme Court. Obamacare not only imposes forced government plunder of our salaries (beginning with any family that earns a yearly salary of at least $33,000) but it also includes about 26 new embedded taxes to fund the program. One embedded tax, for example, is a 3.3% surtax on investment income. Obamacare represents the largest tax increase on the middle class in our nation's history. For example, that family which earns $33,000 will actually be bringing home about $27,000 after ordinary taxes. Under Obamacare, $4,000 must go for the Individual Mandate. And then many of the the other embedded taxes will apply as well. The right to Property was intended to mean that man has a property right in the property he acquires (which, with his money and efforts, will improve it) and in the fruits of his labor. Property is absolutely essential for liberty. The fact is that every man has a property interest in his own person. The labor of his body and the product of his mind translate into property. Our Founders believed that without property rights, no other rights would be possible. Since man has to sustain his life by his own effort, the man who has no right to the product of his effort has no means to sustain his life or provide for his family.
