Angels N Camo Grants a Wish to Catching the "Big One." | Eastern North Carolina Now

News Release:

Angels N Camo has granted another wish and a dream has come true for a young man. Jalen Bryant of Cove City had a dream of going offshore fishing and catching a "big one." Some friends of Jalen contacted Angels N Camo and told them about his dream. The Angels N Camo Crew went into action and plans were made. Todd Purvis of Washington donated the offshore fishing trip. Todd is the owner and captain of the Anna Grace, a 36 foot Jersey Cape boat. A weekend was planned with dinner on Friday night at Basnight's Lone Cedar Café, in which Basnight's covered 50% of the cost of the meal for Jalen's Celebration Dinner. During dinner, Jalen received his celebration gifts which included a Guy Harvey medallion necklace donated by Washington Jewelers of Washington, Chick-fil-A for a year donated by University Commons Chick-fil-A of Greenville, shirts donated by Cape Fear Sportswear of Wilmington, shirts and hats donated by West Marine of Nags Head and some Angels N Camo gear. The Holiday Inn Express in Kitty Hawk and The Southern Shores Boating organization covered the cost of the hotel stay for Jalen's adventure trip. On Sunday morning, the group was treated to breakfast at Stack 'Em High Pancakes courtesy of Eric and Bonnie Swain of Kitty Hawk.

On July 13th, the Angels N Camo Crew, along with the crew of the Anna Grace, set out to make Jalen's dream come true. However, sometimes Mother Nature isn't so kind and the seas were a little too rough to get out far enough for the best fishing spot. The Anna Grace had to turn back and come back in. Even though, the "big one" wouldn't be within reach, the Angels N Camo Crew was determined to make it a weekend that Jalen wouldn't forget. Thanks to TW's Bait and Tackle of Nags Head the weekend would still be a success. TW's Bait and Tackle provided rods, reels, tackle, and bait at a discount for Jalen and his three guests so that everyone could fish. The crew headed over to a local wildlife pier to fish. A cooler full of fish was the prize at the end of the day.

Even though the adventure was a success, Jalen still had a dream to catch the "big one." Two local fishermen and Angels N Camo supporters, David Jones and Kelly Ray Alligood, offered to take Jalen red drum fishing. Jalen was up for the challenge. On August 31st, the Angels N Camo Crew set out once again with Jalen in search of the "big one." This time Jalen would get just that! In fact, Jalen reeled in four big red drum that night weighing in from 30-40 pounds each. Jalen's dream had come true times four!
