Kermit Vett Arnold, age 93, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, at Navion in Greenville, NC.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday June 19, 2025, at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington and will be officiated by Marty Alligood.

The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

K.V. lived a life grounded in hard work, humility, and unwavering devotion to his family. In his early years, he delivered mail always rising early and working late to provide for those he loved. He went on to become a lifelong farmer, a vocation he took immense pride in and one that reflected his deep connection to the land and his community. While farming he would serve as Secretary for Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance of Washington and sat on the Planning Board for the City of Washington. He served as Deacon at Haw Branch Church of Chocowinity, Deacon of Rosemary Church of Christ, and a member of Old Ford Ruritan Club.

After moving on from farming later in life, K.V. could often be found in his workshop at the shop, where he enjoyed repairing small tractors and lawn equipment. His hands were rarely still, and his mechanical talents were matched only by his willingness to lend them to neighbors and friends in need.

K.V. is survived by his beloved wife of 74 years, Grace Carrow Arnold. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and perseverance. He is also survived by his son, Gregory Vett Arnold and wife Kathy; his daughter, Lulu Gurganus and husband Eddie; grandchildren,

Jason Arnold and wife Kristen, Morgan Arnold and husband Nick, Leland Flanagan, Laura Beth Alligood and husband Tony, and Russ Gurganus and wife Lindsay; and greatgrandchildren, Kennedy, Korbyn, and Karrigan Arnold; Alyssa and husband Nicholas Jones, Amber Alligood; and Knox, Everett, and Nancy Banks Gurganus.

He is lovingly remembered by his brother Billy Joe Arnold and wife Barbara.

K.V. was preceded in death by his parents, Jodie Golden Arnold, and Letha Mae Elks; daughter Grace Victoria Arnold; brothers Ronnie Paul Arnold, Joseph Donald Arnold, and James Stanley Arnold; sister Dorothy Mae Paul; and grandson Colin Cratch Arnold.

Vett will be remembered for his tireless work ethic, quiet strength, and the gentle smile he shared with those around him. His legacy of love, resilience, and service to others will live on through his family and all who had the privilege to know him.

The Family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Navion of Greenville and Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care and unwavering support.
