Assaults on ICE Agents Increase 500% | Eastern NC Now

    Assaults against Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers have increased 500%, according to Breitbart News.

    "Just this week, an ICE officer was dragged 50 yards by a car while arresting an illegal alien sex offender," DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told the outlet. "Every day the men and women of ICE put their lives on the line to protect and defend the lives of American citizens."

    ICE successfully arrested the illegal alien, and the officer is expected to make a full recovery, the department said.

    The data comes after Antifa rioters attacked an ICE building in Portland, Oregon, last night, forcing agents to use rubber bullets and flash bangs to disperse the mob, The Daily Wire reported.

    Anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles, California, led President Donald Trump to deploy the National Guard and the Marines, a move criticized by Governor Gavin Newsom and LA Mayor Karen Bass.

    Riots have also spread to Seattle and San Francisco.

    McLaughlin also criticized Democrat politicians for contributing to violence against agents.

    "Make no mistake, Democrat politicians like Hakeem Jeffries, Mayor Wu of Boston, Governor Tim Walz, and Mayor Bass of Los Angeles are contributing to the surge in assaults of our ICE officers through their repeated vilification and demonization of ICE," McLaughlin told Breitbart. "From comparisons to the modern-day Nazi gestapo to glorifying rioters, the violent rhetoric of these sanctuary politicians is despicable. This violence against ICE must end."

    Nashville Mayor Freddie O'Connell doxxed federal agents working with local law enforcement in May. O'Connell said the names were released by mistake, but the DHS disagreed.

    "They claimed it was a mistake," McLaughlin said at the time. "There's zero chance it was a mistake and there will be repercussions."

    An exclusive report by The Daily Wire revealed that, out of 196 illegal aliens arrested in Nashville during a weeklong raid, 95 had prior criminal convictions or pending criminal charges. Another 31 had reentered the U.S. after being previously deported.

    O'Connell had said he was "frustrated" by the raid.


    "The Nashville Mayor is protecting illegal aliens and gang members over his constituents," DHS said.
