US Energy Secretary blasts New York's green energy boondoggle | Eastern NC Now

as high green energy electric rates clobber Democrats in neighboring New Jersey election

ENCNow

As sky high electric rates stemming from Democrats climate agenda of pushing wind and solar have made heavily Democrat New Jersey very competitive for Republicans this year,  US Energy Secretary was in neighboring New York pointing to the same problems with "green energy" there.

Energy Secretary Chris Wright, speaking at a 60 year old natural gas power station on Long Island, pointed out that electricity rates in New York and New England were 50-100% higher than the national average due to the emphasis on wind and solar.  He stressed that when high electric rates drove industries to leave states like New York, Massachusetts, or California, it did not cut emissions, it just moved them to China and moved the local jobs and investment there, too.

Green energy played the major role in the last election of New York's northern neighbor as well.  The long ruling Liberal Party in the Canadian province of Ontario was a champion of wind and solar energy.  When Doug Ford, the then newly minted leader of the provincial Conservatives decided to make opposition to wind and solar the mainstay of his campaign message in the province's last election, it paid off in spades.  Ford flipped a 2 to 1 Liberal over Conservative majority to a 10 to 1 Conservative over Liberal majority in one of the biggest landslides in Canadian history.  His first act as the new premier was to cancel all wind and solar permit applications that were pending and followed it up by repealing the Green Energy Act.  His administration has also restored a local government veto over wind and solar projects, cancelled wind and solar projects that were already under construction, and helped bring criminal felony charges against four wind energy companies for polluting the groundwater.

That despicable pair of quislings, Phil Berger and Tim Moore have set North Carolina on the same idiot path as New Jersey and California on energy. They sold out both Republicans and North Carolina electric ratepayers to pander to woke energy monopoly Duke Energy and to liberal governor Roy Cooper to totally rewrite and ram though HB 951 to close cheap and reliable coal power plants and move to expensive and unreliable intermittent wind and solar. That is a pure leftwing New Jersey move by Berger and Moore that betrayed North Carolina.
