    Mr. Richard Charles Pfeiffer, age 88, a resident of 118 North Pierce Street, Washington, NC died Saturday October 19, 2013 at Ridgewood Nursing Center of Washington.

    A memorial service will be held 11 AM Thursday October 24, 2013 at First United Methodist Church of Washington officiated by Rev. Danny Allen.

    The family will receive friends 4 PM to 8 PM Wednesday October 23, 2013 at the home.

    Mr. Pfeiffer was born in St. Paul, MN on May 31, 1925 son of the late Charles Whittington Pfeiffer and the late Ruth Pinetta Carr Pfeiffer. He earned his level of Eagle Scout and was very proud of his experience in the Boy Scouts. On June 25, 1955 he married the former Alice Kerr Farr who survives. Mr. Pfeiffer served his country in the US Navy during World War II. Following his military career he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Stanford University and his masters in Foreign Trade from American Institute for Foreign Trade. He began his career in farming in Managua, Nicaragua and later moved to Washington. Mr. Pfeiffer was a member of First United Methodist Church where he served in the Adult Choir for thirty-eight years. He was a member of the Beaufort County Choral Society.

    Surviving along with Mr. Pfeiffer's wife Alice of the home are three daughters: Cathy P. Moore of Washington, Diana P. Bush and husband Chuck of Zebulon and Patricia P. Ulm and husband Ed of Mechanicsville, VA; two sons: Richard C. Pfeiffer, Jr. and wife Catherine of Washington and Robert Clark Pfeiffer and wife Ginny of Washington; a brother: Donald W. Pfeiffer and wife Ann of Corona, CA; eleven grandchildren: Andrew and Rebecca Bush, Heather Moore Thienpont, Anna, Charles, Emily, Leigh Ann and Ali Pfeiffer, Madison, Chloe and Lucas Ulm and two great grandchildren. Mr. Pfeiffer also enjoyed a special relationship with Muriel Moore.

    Mr. Pfeiffer was predeceased by a daughter: Ann Valentine and a sister: Virginia Henry.

    In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks for memorial contributions to be made to First United Methodist Church, Building Fund or Boy Scout Troop 99, 304 West 2nd Street, Washington, NC 27889 or to the charity of one's choice.
