Watch out for the Train | Eastern North Carolina Now

Publisher's Note: Jim Bispo's weekly column appears in the Beaufort Observer.

The Dems won the last election. The Anointed One got to keep his Government Housing. In his unending campaign, he gets to continue to fly all over creation in AF-1 at about $180K per flight hour (not to mention the cost of Secret Service protection etc which surely runs the bill up to over $500K (per flight hour). Likewise, the First Lady apparently doesn't have to be concerned about how much taxpayer money she spends on vacations for herself and her friends (for another three and a half years.) After that, we'll see how large her vacation retinues are. Of course, by then he will likely have figured out how Bil and Hil get their travel and other goodies paid for by others.... They need to get their Foundation up and running so they will be able to contribute large chunks of money to the "charity" (??) for their use while still getting a "charitable deduction" on their tax return as the Clintons have done in the past. (I'm not positive they are still doing it, but I rather suspect it would be a safe bet that they are.)

Since the 2012 election the Reps have spent a lot of time and energy trying to get enough information from the Administration to allow them to fulfill their Constitutional oversight responsibilities. (If you don't believe me just ask Darrel Issa and any other Chairman who has asked for information from the Administration.)

And, of course, the Reps have spent a lot of time and energy trying to torpedo ObamaCare.

To top it all off, we now have foreign terrorists presumably being afforded the same Constitutional protection as US Citizens. Surely we shouldn't do anything to upset any of the terrorists or anyone associated with radical Islam..

That is a lot of things to be worrying about all at once. It seems to keep the Reps. busy and doesn't leave much time for focusing on a lot of other things. (Are they about to be had - again??)

We hear and see what looks to be a lot of posturing in anticipation of the 2014 and 2016 elections. What we have not been hearing much about (as in "nothing") is the Anointed One's Chicago think tank headed up by (or at least including) David A. Reportedly they were pivotal in getting the Anointed One re-elected in 2012..

How do you suppose the Chicago group managed to pull off a victory when all the "pertinent" statistics seemed to be against them. Unemployment was high. The economy stagnant. Benghazi was staring us in the face as was the Gun Walking fiasco. The deficit spending was out of hand. The IRS was making up its own rules about 501(c) organizations with which they didn't agree. Conventional wisdom did not support re-election, But... The Anointed One's Chicago based team was able to get out the vote through their very careful analysis of (reportedly) publicly available personal information. Through careful collection, analysis and interpretation of the data, the Dems were able to get enough "know nothing" voters to vote for their candidate for him to win. We are left to wonder why, after they did so well with "publically available information", the Administration continues to condone NSA's domestic spying. Surely the info they stand to garner from NSA is not required to win an election. When you add all private information being surrendered to the government under ObamaCare to all the public information they already have amassed, you would think that they wouldn't need much more and could begin to champion individual privacy if there is any left after ObamaCare "kicks in". Either way, that should make a pretty good "talking point".

So what do you think became of the Chicago Team and David Axelrod?? Do you suppose they folded up their tents and went home after the 2012 election?? Short answer: Not likely!! And besides, Axelrod was already "home", so he's likely still there. "Doing what??", you ask. Likely more of the same as before the last election; this time with an eye to holding the Senate and retaking the House in 2014. Speaking of retaking the House, wouldn't you think that the prospect of Nancy Pelosi becoming the Speaker again would be enough to keep folks from turning the House back to the Dems?? It should, but a word of caution for the Reps.; Don't get complacent.

The point is that the Reps need to be worrying about what's going on with the Chicago group lest they get run over by another train. Yes, I know in the off year election during a Prez' second term, the "ins" always lose seats. Just like "no one ever got re-elected before with an unemployment rate of over 7%. Not until 2012, that is. If David A. gives the Anointed One a Dem Congress (both houses) it will be "Katie bar the door" for another two years..
