Relaxed Elected Officials

BY: HOOD RICHARDSON

Speaking as an elected official, I can tell the public that you are not getting your money’s worth from the majority of your elected officials. The great majority of my efforts to reduce taxes, stop fraud and waste, and improve education over my 29 years in office have not been received well at all by the RINOs (Republican In Name Only) and Democrats. They seem to be insulted if asked to put effort into making government better. It is easier to float along with the hired help, the liberals and socialists. They would become unpopular if they tried to make government more efficient or examined expenses to see if you (the taxpayer) were getting what you are paying for. Questioning the quality of education has become a sin requiring immediate punishment by these “relaxed elected officials”.

The principal purpose of county commissioners is to protect the public’s money, to ensure that it is not wasted or stolen. About half of the 40 million dollars of property tax money Beaufort County collects goes for education, the public school system and the community college. Beginning about ten years ago, when Fake Frankie Waters, Ron Buzzeo, Gary Brinn and the two Democrats took over the Beaufort County Government, the Board of Commissioners stopped requesting information from the Beaufort County School Board as to what your money was being spent on.

Our school budget is decided by Fake Frankie Waters in the back room. He and probably the Big Cheese decide what will satisfy them this year. My and Stan Deatherage’s requests for more detailed information is always voted down or ignored. Consequently, not a one of the Beaufort County Commissioners can tell you how half of your property tax money (twenty million dollars) is spent. I am satisfied, from what I have seen of School Board and Community College Board members, that they are equally clueless.

Apparently, these same conditions have prevailed with the City of Washington. Not paying attention to spending is what led to their recent upheaval. The only reason this has not happened with Beaufort County is because the County Commissioners have been heavily overtaxing you for at least ten years.

I made another attempt to get a handle on school spending at the December Commissioners’ meeting. My motion was to request the school and community college present their budgets for the coming year by “purpose and function” (cost center), with a listing of job titles and salaries paid with county funds, a list of purchased curriculums, and their advertising budget. My motion failed by a vote of four to three. Fake Frankie Waters, Randy Walker, Ed Booth and Jerry Langley voted against it. This is the same result we have had from Fake Frankie, the RINOs and Democrats for the past ten years.

State law provides that commissioners may fund schools by cost centers called “purpose and function”. Purpose and function as defined is divided into fairly broad categories. However, this method allows the public to have a much better idea of how their money is being wasted…or spent. There are a lot of positions in the school system that are questionable. For instance, I heard this term used at a school board meeting: “Dean of Primary School Curriculum”. I hope the term was used in jest, but I do not know.

Hundreds of thousands of dollars are spent on computerized curriculums. Investigation has shown that DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) and CRT (Critical Race Theory) principles are imbedded in these canned curriculums. There are also issues with sexual orientation and the pronoun farce associated with these programs. There is a lot less work for teachers using canned curriculums because testing, attendance records and student achievement progress are automatically done by the computer. There is no lesson planning. Teachers should be able to make lesson plans for what they are teaching otherwise, if they cannot, they do not need to be teaching that subject.

A lot of advertising is being done by the Beaufort County School System and the Community College. They are buying billboards and newspaper space to promote themselves. Institutions that promote LGBTQ+, fail to teach cursive writing, teach new math, allow the English language to be destroyed with the pronoun farce and allow sexual orientation to even be touched on do not need bill advertisements to sing their praises.

Unless we elect individuals, who know what their responsibility to their public is and have the courage to act on it, taxes will continue to get higher and the education system will continue to produce socialists who have no clue about our history, the founding fathers or the constitution.

Those who doubt me or who believe this is not a serious problem should have conversations with students about what they are learning in school, what they do on computers and what their teacher is actually doing in the classroom.

We have an opportunity to elect conservatives to both the county commission and the school board in the 2026 primary and general election. The primary is of great importance. That is where we separate the RINOs from the true conservatives. Those who want to run for office may register until December 19th at 12:00 Noon.

The liberal coalition among RINOs Fake Frankie Waters, Randy Walker and the two Democrats, Jerry Langley and Ed Booth is alive a well. They elected Fake Frankie Chairman and Jerry Langley Vice Chairman at the December Commissioners meeting.

Neither the Joy McRoy fraud case nor the Chocowinity Fire Department Case has been settled. Lawyers must be waiting for all the witnesses to die. Watch for a deal to be struck that will turn the lights out on this travesty of taxpayer money. Just watch and see who is held accountable for all that missing taxpayer money and whether anything changes…unless new people are elected.

It has been said: “We get the kind of government we deserve.” When you vote, remember that.

You can't make this s*** up; it's impossible. This should be on PPV.

Tyre is a slug who is just trying to protect the sleazy Sadler machine and cover up their sleaze. If he wants to be on a city council, he should run in Greenville, where the condo he owns and lives in is located, not from a fake downtown address in Washington.

Tyre made his motion to the OLD council, which should NOT have had ANY jurisdiction over the agenda of the NEW council. Any objection he had should have been addressed to the new council. That power play stunk. And Tyre himself is a total phony, not really a resident of Washington.

The losers have been trying to stymie the winners of the last election, and this is just their latest ploy. They have slow walked the city audit documents (what are they hiding????) and left the city with no functioning city manager. There are a lot of highly questionable things that need to be looked into, and this bunch is trying to gum up the works to keep those things from being looked into as long as they can.

Actually, it's a lot worse than the Radar O'Reilly example. In all probability.

BUT JS, Tyre is a member of the new council and he says he didnt get a chance to approve the "new agenda." Sooooo, my question is WHO was working with the City Attorney to set up the new agenda?? Who knew about it? Who had the inside scoop, it certainly wasnt Tyre who was also on the new council. So I think for the sake of transparency it is a good thing that this agenda was Erased. The city may have been Saved by Tyre, even if saving us was not part of his plan.
Quite frankly I believe that those in the Washington Govt have been "working the system," to get what they want. Please understand that every time a govt works the system to favor one outcome, they are stepping on the toes of others who perhaps are being hurt by it. Its not good Govt. "Working the system" needs to stop. It leads to
institutionalized corruption.

"Trust but Verify."

The new council's agenda should be up to the new council, NOT the old defeated council. What Tyre did was a dirty trick to extend the coverup for the old council and thwart the new council being able to hit the ground running.

W: Our local government is like watching re-runs of Mash where Radar O'Reilly keeps getting Colonel Blake's signature for stuff he has no clue of. The local officials have forgotten how to lead.

I finally got to see the video of the outgoing city council meeting. Its where Councilman Tyre questions the City Attorney about the new Agenda for that meeting.
The City attorney admits that he wrote it for the new Council members. Tyre says but NO ONE on the current council knew anything about these contracts on the new agenda. The City Attorney replies, "But THE STAFF did."
If you put your thinking cap on, I believe you will now see part of the problem in our City. THE STAFF think they run the show. Even to the point of circumventing the City Council and perhaps pulling a fast one over the new naive incoming council.
Isnt that what FBI Director Comey admitted to doing to Flynn and Trump...slipping in a poison pill before they could get their feet on the ground?
THE STAFF need an attitude adjustment, including the City attorney.
