Another Beaufort County Republican Executive Committee Meeting

For those who puzzle at why I keep writing these articles about what happens with the leadership of what is supposed to be my Republican Political Party, I present the following. Beaufort County votes more than two-thirds conservative Republican. Most of the people I come into contact with have a strong loyalty to the Christian principles our nation was founded on. They believe in the same standards of fair and equal treatment for every citizen of Beaufort County, the State of North Carolina and the entire Nation. The voting public, as a whole, truly believes we elect people to office, whether it be government or political parties to represent all of us fairly and equally. Almost all people believe in the New Testament principle of “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”.

In order to have a safe and orderly society everyone has to follow the same rules, laws of governance of any organization, whether it be a social club or political party. Corruption occurs when individuals or cliques throw the rule book out the window and announce that they are in control. When that happens any person who tries to operate within the principle that “All men are equal” or any of the other principles set out in the “Bill of Rights” no longer has access to these freedoms. This is how every “other” dictatorship in the world has come into being. A few people bully others and sew fear.

I believe that I, as an elected official, have an obligation to expose those who would take over our Republican Party and set themselves up as dictators. In order for these people to be successful in controlling all of us they must target, disparage and try to drive those who oppose them from the playing field or, maybe, the war zone. At the moment, those who believe in the principles of our government are the conservative Republicans. This same kind of political purging and bullying has happened in the Democrat Party. Conservative Democrats have been driven out, ignored, and abandoned. The result is that socialists and communists are now driving policy for the Democrat Party. Should this faction manage to take full control of the Republican Party, whether County, State or Federal, the result will be fascism (demands for loyalty and punishment of enemies).

I shall continue to report on these issues until democracy prevails and the Beaufort County Republican Party follows it own rules and shows respect and fairness toward every citizen in this county.

A meeting of the Beaufort County Republican Party was scheduled to be held on Thursday October 8, 2026 at the Beaufort County Ag Building at the airport. This meeting, as well as the September meeting did not have a quorum. Failure to have a quorum is caused by two important things. The first is the hostile environment created by Queen Carolyn Garris, the chairman, the Victory Committee, and the Queen’s supporters. All together about 15 people. This hostile environment includes bullying, shouting, refusing to recognize speakers, and impolite and demanding questions directed toward conservative Republicans.

The second contributor to low attendance is the confusion sewn by Queen Carolyn Garris. Garris has posted the meeting dates on the so-called GOP website. Garris sends confusing email messages that disappear within a day or two that leave a person wondering whether or not there will be a meeting. The message seems to infer there will not be a meeting but is never specific. Good leadership would be for the Queen to send a message that reminds the committee members that we are definitely meeting.

There is a method to her apparent inability to communicate. She does not want a quorum to show up. If there is a quorum there will be efforts by the membership to follow the rules. Queen Garris is getting pushed harder and harder to follow the rules of the Beaufort County Republican Party. The harder the push the more the Queen has had to come up with ways to maintain her and the secret Victory Committee’s control. With the Party Headquarters out of sight on the second floor of a building with heavy security and the absence of a quorum, Queen Garris and her Victory Committee are in total charge.

Determining a quorum has always been a difficult process since Queen Carolyn Garris has been in charge. It took more than a year of demands to get a list of the members of the Executive Committee. There are rules of attendance in order to remain a member of the Committee. The rules specifically put the responsibility of maintaining the “active” membership list on the Secretary. This list was at the meeting, but it is not up to date. The reason being is because if it is kept up to date (honestly) some of Queen Carolyn Garris’s supporters would have to be removed. She calls on these people when she becomes fearful of a vote. We never see these people until she wants them to appear, yet they remain members of the Executive Committee.

Not having a quorum means we could not vote or transact business. However, reports were given. One of the reports was from the secret “Victory Committee”. They said they have our strategy figured out, they have placed advertisements in the media, and they are very confident they know what they are doing. None of what they have done, including the spending of the money, has been approved by the Executive Committee. The members of the Victory Committee are Queen Carolyn Garris, Ashley Woolard, Steve Rader, Paul Varcoe, Keith Kidwell and Greg Dority. Dority flatly stated that he is a consultant to the Victory Committee. Keith Kidwell reported the Victory Committee was “chartered” several years ago to run political activities and spend our money. This Victory Committee has never been authorized to even exist by the present Beaufort County Republican Executive Committee.

Queen Carolyn Garris was not present at this meeting. She had another one of her convenient family emergencies.
