    Mrs. Eva Beatrice Carawan "Bea" Latham, age 58, a resident of 418 Craven Street, Bath, NC, died December 8, 2013 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.

    A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 11:00a.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Bath, NC officiated by The Reverend J. Gary Fulton and Arthur "Bud" Ball, Jr. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A reception will follow the service in the Noe Building at St. Thomas Church. Earl Pugh, Jr., Gary Mason, Larry Floyd, Mickey Cochran, Dr. Zack Waters and Jack Wallace will serve as honorary pallbearers.

    Mrs. Latham was born in Beaufort County on March 4, 1955 daughter of the late Elmo Carawan and Eva M. Carrow Carawan. On August 2, 1980, Mrs. Latham married James G. "Jimmy" Latham, who survives. She was a graduate of UNC-Greensboro and served as the Assistant Site Manager of the Historic Bath Visitor's Center through the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources. Mrs. Latham was a lifelong Episcopalian, who loved history and people. She will be missed by her large family and countless friends. In addition to her work at the Historic Bath Center, Mrs. Latham was a member of the Colonial Bath Book Club, served on the Vestry of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, where she had served as Senior Warden and was a member of the Glebe House Restoration Committee.

    Mrs. Latham had the honor of watching her sons James and Joshua receive diplomas from North Carolina State University and become honest, hardworking and productive members of society. She was looking forward to doing the same for Jacob on December 19, 2013, as he was set to receive his diploma from a two year program at N.C. State and has been accepted into the four year program, which will begin in January 2014. She loved N.C. State sports- GO PACK!!!

    In addition to her husband, Jimmy, of the home, Mrs. Latham is survived by three sons: James Latham, Jr. and wife Andrea of Bath, NC, Joshua Latham of Pinetown, NC and Jacob Latham of Bath, NC, a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Oden Latham, who was born on June 19, 2013, and brought much joy to Mrs. Latham, a brother, Elmo T. Carawan, Jr. and wife Roberta of Washington, and a lifelong friend and confidant, Donanna Bates of Washington.

    The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 from 7:00p.m-9:00p.m. at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.

    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. Latham's memory may be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Attention: Glebe House Restoration Project, Post Office Box 257, Bath, NC 27808, Terra Ceia Christian School, 4428 Christian School Road, Pantego, NC 27860 or the charity of one's choice.
