Nathan Black is an English Major at East Carolina University. Black has written for the East Carolinian and other publications; and is a writer of fiction, non-fiction and poetry.

A native of Greenville, Black was raised as an only child by a local pastor and his wife, a Spanish-language translator at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. Over the years, Black has spread his roots and built a network in and around Greenville, becoming heavily involved in the local music scene and literary and arts communities.

Recognizable for his prolific narrative poems and romantic flow of adjectives, Black sets himself apart with long lyrical stanzas, rather than simplified verse. Every bit the neo-modernist, Nathan writes about modern life in the South and the changing culture brought on by technology, modern love, travel, generational trends, drug use and varying views on religion.
