Most of us have plans for the upcoming Memorial Day Weekend, but I wonder how many of those plans include anything to do with the true meaning of the day.

Since 1868, a day has been set aside to remember all those who died in American wars. Monday, May 30, 2022 is this year's date. My memory of Memorial Day is largely around celebrating the beginning of Summer, parties with hot dogs and watermelon, pools opening.

Reliable source tell us there is a big shakeup going on at Flanders Filters, one of Beaufort County's largest manufacturing employers. Sources confirm that there was an employee meeting called this morning (6-27-14) and it was announced that CEO Harry Smith has been replaced by Peter Jones.
