For the first weekend in a while, I am at the rabbitpatch. We have big plans for Sunday -Daddys' -eighty fifth birthday party.

I used to have a lot of animals, here at the rabbitpatch. I had a miniature horse, miniature goats, chickens, doves, that came and went as they pleased and a lot of rabbits.

A cold rain has been falling for days. One night, there was a slight chance of snow and you know I had my heart set on it-but nary a flake fell at the rabbitpatch.

A lot happened on Saturday at the rabbitpatch. First of all, there was not a single branch left on the territory, by the time the sun set.

One day turned into another, until somehow, a week had passed. There were all sorts of things going on. Daddy had doctor appointments, there was work and last but not least, the business of selling the rabbit patch.

At the risk of sounding redundant , I will say again . . .it is raining at the rabbit patch. I am sure some record has been broken in the meteorology department, but how would I know, as cable does not work in the rain here?

Last night, it snowed at the rabbit patch. It was merely a dusting, but schools had a two hour delay on account of it.

All day long, there has been sunshine on the rabbit patch. Sunshine that was bright enough to cast shadows. I have always loved the play of light and shade.

Daybreak was especially beautiful this morning . . I know because I was there, at the "early service" on the rabbit patch. The sky was a deep apricot color and seemed to light the fields. I am always hopeful at sunrise.

On Thursday night, I saw the stars over the rabbit patch. I had not seen them, due to clouds, for the better part of a week. I had missed the silver belt of Orion-and the friendly Dog Stars.

Children are out of school and farmers are harvesting winter wheat. "Queen Annes' Lace" and the Day Lilies bloom and mark the time better than any calendar. This is the prelude to summer at the rabbit patch.
