Walter Ettice Oakes Sr., 83, of 1855 N.C. Highway 94 North, Columbia, died Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Chowan Hospital in Edenton. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Koo officiating.
