Commented on Fake News on FacebookI think there is a decent argument to be made that nonfactual 'news' stories swayed the election, and both sides were taking part in this propaganda method (as for whom was worse, you draw your own conclusions.) I do not think that Facebook and Google are talking about the articles written by puppet journalists for the Clinton Foundation, the manufactured crises, or general misinformation which happens to help reinforce their political stances. That is what I find unsettling. Another thing I find unsettling is that people are getting news from memes, but that's another tragedy.

The United States nearing 20 trillion dollars in debt, and the federal government continues to subsidize hot tubs and safe spaces.

Bobby Tony,
I can't remember if I ever posted this, but I remember writing once that my original plan was for my writing to particularly focus on the first amendment. Then I realized that by government (and partially citizen) infringement on other rights, the first amendment will crumble along with the others. Would you speak against government corruption if the eye of Big Brother were constantly staring down at you? In the wake of various power grabs (beaufortcountynow.com), I broadened it significantly because I didn't feel it was being discussed enough (yes, including the "conservative media.")

Commented on Surrender Liberty For Your ProtectionThere are a lot of people my age who are starting to realize the problems we are creating. They are still a minority (in terms of their ideology), but it is growing. I think we might be experiencing something similar to the baby boomers, but on a much more extreme scale. What we're experiencing now reminds me a lot of when Chairman Mao ZeDong came into power.
I have concerns at times for my protection to exercise free speech, as I am a college student and higher education is the worst place to have an opinion that could hurt someone's feelings. Even still, the United States is one of the best places to be in terms of freedom of speech. Granted free expression wasn't the focus of this article, but it usually is for this project. Fun fact, this is the first time I have wrote about the second amendment. This was never planned to happen, but what happened disgusted me.

I've been wanting to spoil 1984's ending since a podcast spoiled it for me. I think this is the appropriate article to spoil 1984.
"He gazed up at the enormous face. Forty years it had taken him to learn what kind of smile was hidden beneath the dark moustache. O cruel, needless misunderstanding! O stubborn, self-willed exile from the loving breast! Two gin-scented tears trickled down the sides of his nose. But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. He had won the victory over himself. He loved Big Brother."

I think you missed the point. I was basically saying that the ideologues of progressivism hold ideas that heavily conflict with the fundamentals of liberalism. A political ideology that was once known for its support of freedom of speech and expression, is now being tainted by the actions of progressives. There are a lot of liberals who are opposed by this, calling progressives the "regressive left" as a slur (if you watched the linked in my previous comment, you will see what I mean.) Progressives have morphed the views of liberalism to be something unsettling, destroying the individualism that liberalism is supposed to protect.
For the second part, personally, I blame the cultural change in the millennial generation.

These safe spaces (as well as speech codes and trigger warnings) are being implemented because the students are demanding them, they are demanding these acts of censorship to be in effect. A lot of these administrators are practically forced into allowing the policies by the student body (this especially so on private campuses where rich college students hold more leverage over the faculty. See Yale student mentioned in the article for more on this.)
Since you brought up "liberal" advances in education, I recommend this video on progressivism (what you're likely referring to), and how it conflates itself with liberalism, despite it opposing all core liberal ideas. www.youtube.com This article is meant to focus on the popularization of censorship, and its alarming amount of support.

Commented on Trials of Ambiguity: A Political NightmareThe Twilight Zone happens to be one of my current obsessions. It's provocative allegories for human nature appeals to me. There is a spin-off in England of The Twilight Zone called Black Mirror which focuses on problems we are likely to face in the future. Season 1 Episode 1 has a plot that is very similar to something that happened there recently. :/

Commented on Trials of Ambiguity: A Political NightmareThe theme is a little more complicated than that. It will make more sense after it is read. I find that being autistic made this story much easier to create. This video is kind of relevant. www.ted.com

Commented on Trials of Ambiguity: A Political NightmareGene: Sector E38 is a fictional representation of Western Society. I'm writing a second post explaining why I wrote it. Sector E38 is what I fear the world to become, while also what the world is.
The book centers around the importance to question everything. "Question everything. Truth does not exist without proof. Sector E38 will fall by the hands of our own." -Sabine Retlin (a character in the story who only exists in her writings)
