Vern R. Baugher, 92, of Washington, N.C., formerly of Mount Joy, Pa., died peacefully Monday, June 13, 2011, in Beaufort County Medical Center, Washington, N.C. She was the widow of William H. Baugher, who died in 1980.

Ed Alton Whitehurst Sr., 78, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, after a long battle with emphysema. The funeral service will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery.

Mr. John “Joe” Tigchelaar, 95, a former resident of Terra Ceia and Washington, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Autumnfield Rest Home of Belhaven. A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Terra Ceia Christian Reformed Church. Burial will follow at Pamlico Memorial Gardens of Washington.
