The City of Washington’s Board of Adjustment has revoked the special use permit for the Ell Hotel, owned by Mayor Ellen Brabo, citing zoning violations.
www.witn.com It would be nice if the Board of Adjustment was consistant about enforcing Zoning Regs in Washington. They recently approved a City landfill in an Airport District. They also approved a waste site in a city residential area operated by a business. It appears they are just rubber stamps for the Planning Dept. In Washington, its not what...but WHO you are that matters.

Roland Wyman = totally UNACCEPTABLE. That would be a betrayal of the voters and what they voted for when they cast their votes for Nick Fritz. We must have someone from his team, not a dude who is aligned with Sadler.

Agreed, Washingtonian.
The Sadler candidate has emerged for the council seat. He is Roland Wyman, a liberal city politician who is friendly with the Sadler machine. Wyman can absolutely NOT br trusted on taxes. He is the polar opposite of Nick Fritz. Taxpayers need someone who will follow Fritz's mandate from voters on taxes and spending. Putting a tax and spend politician like Wyman in that seat would be spitting in the face of taxpayers and voters.

Regarding the City Budget. There is a Budget Public Hearing
beginning at 6:00 on May 11. Councilman Joe Davis wrote this to the citizens: HOW RESIDENTS CAN BE HEARD Davis is asking residents who support the tax reduction to attend the next Council budget meeting in person and to make their support known during public comment. “Heading to the ballot box should have been enough. It wasn’t. If you want this rate cut, the most direct way to get it is to be in the room when the vote happens. The opposition of tax decreases are always there — and they will be loud. I know most people don't have time to do this but yours is the voice this Council needs to hear.”

The one who ought to be removed from the city council is Tyre, who does not even really live in Washington. He should run in Greenville, where he really lives. Tyre and the whole Sadler bunch are what you get when you cross Tammany Hall with Idi Amin.

On that Facebook poll asking should JDavis be removed from Council shows a Jeff Huss voting YES. There is a City Code Enforcement Officer in the Washington Planning Dept by the same name. Is it the same person? Are there other City employee's names on that list? Inquiring minds want to know.

The people who voted for Perrault did NOT expect him to throw in with the Sadler / Trye mafia. that corrupt group will stop at nothing for power. Some on, Max, show us you are NOT one of them. Stand up for the positions who claimed to have during the campaign.

Hey Concerned Taxpayer:
JD said this on Facebook regarding those Facebook Keyboard warriors. He wrote: "This same coalition went after Nick Fritz for City Council relentlessly — personally. They and their supporters went after his wife (even entering her home while alone), his kids, his businesses, his employees, and his employees' families." This same hateful group also posted a poll asking members: "Should Tyre, Horton and Perreault remove Davis from the City Council so they can have a fresh start in governing the city? It’s only a matter of time for Davis…why have another delay in governing?"

So the bureaucratic capal won the struggle for top dog in Washington Govt.
We the People ELECT representatives to lead our govt, then one Rep tells us he has learned that Democracy in Washington is a sham and then quits because he knows that the newly elected have all been neutered. Then another councilman tells me "we have no power." Well if thos we elect have no power, then we the Citizens have no power. We are told elections are how we control our government. But in Washington that has turned out to be a lie. So why do we have elections? Its a bureaucratic dictatorship, complete w the power to destroy those bothersome humans that criticize them. No wonder everyone on NOW use aliases, and then STILL most are afraid to speak up. Its a fact that dictatorship kill their "useful idiots" first. I know too much. These r words to the wise, for the useful fools. I say fired every single Dept head that has been here more than 2 years. Fire those long time Board of Adjustment members too

Facebook participation has the power to make or break a small town's congeniality. I think it is currently breaking it.
The only thing worse than "small town politics" in a small town, is small town politics in a big city... such as DC or Chicago 4 example. I think small town politics could be known as vicious gossip that people act on. Bureaucrats say, we have been here for decades, you politicians come and go frequently. (that causes rot in govt, which causes sloppiness)

I think Tyre is describing himself here.
City Councilman Anthony Tyre wrote: The Dunning–Kruger effect is when limited understanding creates inflated confidence, people who know the least often speak the most certain. Next time, I think I will clock him to see how many minutes he rants/rambles out of a single hour. If someone would use a "point of order" on his speech, maybe the City meetings wouldnt be so LONG!

no, no, no.
Fritz got the most votes from the Citizens of Washington, then of all the other candidates. If there had been a boycott against his business, there would have an explosion of new customers to offset that boycott. Regardless, it is urgent that he rescind this bad decision, and come back fighting. He has the ability to organize supporters if he will just ask. We are not mind reader. People often think they are alone...when they are NOT.

Beaufort County citizens living outside Washington are fortunate as Washington has been a circus since the death of former Mayor Mac Hodges. First they had the self serving strongarm high tax Sadler faction. Then they thought they had fixed it with a new team. Unfortunately, things are not going so well with that team. Joe Davis has turned out to have a tendency to shoot from the hip and go off half cocked. He probably means well, but he tends to open his mouth and engage his keyboard without fully thinking things through. Tyre is pure evil, and Horton is his wingman. Perrault tries to play both sides, and has gotten in bed with Tyre more than he should. Fritz was the only sane guy up there and now he is gone. Brabo as mayor has not set the world on fire, but at least she is honest for a change.
If you live outside of Washington, you can get out the popcorn and watch the soap opera. If you have the misfortune to live in Washington, however, it is a tax nightmare.

The rumblings I heard did not specify the nature of the threat, but if it were a possible boycott, a common tactic of the left, then beating a hasty retreat would be the path of least resistance.

If Fritz's business is being threatened, it is safer for him to be on the council than off it.
In my opinion, Brabo's business would already be shut down if she wasnt Mayor. Tho I do believe she has lost control over her Mayorship. Letting the 3 avengers run roughshod over Davis was a disgrace. They took Davis' HRC position away, then tried to nominate Tyre to it. He begged his way off, whining that he was already a liaison for 2 committees. Well suck it up buttercup bec u guys are now going to have to double down on committee jobs.

I have heard rumblings that some of the dark political forces in our city may have made threats against Fritz' business. Don't know if that is true, and whether or not it is true, I would expect Fritz to protect his business by denying it. Fritz defending that pair smacks of him trying to placate somebody for something, and that makes those rumblings even more believable.

Concerned Taxpayer, In Nick Fritz Facebook post, he defended Sadler and Tyre. WHY? Does anyone know?
I will never forget Tyre telling a constituent: "If you dont like how we do things, hire a lawyer." Well Brabo did and look at the mess that has caused. She had to do it, unlike most of us) because she had a business to defend. So I dont blame her at all. I know that Perreault was calling for everyone to be a team player. Well, I cant forget that is what manager Russell was doing right after he demoted the police chief...calling that demoted police chief a team player. Those are all peculiar things to me. Or i should say personnel CONTROL strategies by govt.
