Someone posted that the pressure on Nick Fritz was a possible boycott of his business, It was worse, a lot worse. It reflects the thug-ocracy Washington lived under until last December and that wants to come back to power in the worst way.

What happened at Fritz' restaurant was that some thugs showed up to harass customers. They were big burly guys of the same ethnicity as Sadler and Tyre. At first they just hung out in front of the restaurant intimidating customers. Then they started coming inside, raising a ruckus, and harassing his employees as well as customers.

What could Fritz do? If he took any action, they would undoubtedly scream "racism". Anything he did would hurt his business. Then, it got worse, the same thugs started threatening his family. No elected official signs up for that kind of treatment.

The head thug now seems to have left town, probably using his intimidation tactics on someone else. Washington has lost one of its best council members in some time.

Mr. Wyman's silence on taxes and spending is deafening. That is a huge red flag. We need someone taxpayers can count on, and that is Tex Melton.

It is inconceivable to me that our local governments do not seek applicants for top management positions from the private sector. When I served in the Jim Martin administration in state government, almost all of our top management personal got their management experience in the private sector, NOT the public sector, and it worked fine. The bigger the pool of applicants for a local management job, the more choices the governing body has.

So, Beaufort County has a NEW County Manager!
www.thewashingtondailynews.com
Its Tim Corley...who will continue to live in Pitt County, and keep working at a second job. Dont we deserve more? ...at last he didnt come from the DOT.

Meanwhile back at the Washington battle stations on Facebook, the key-board warriors have posted a petition to remove duly elected councilman Joe Davis.
At this point he must be beginning to feel like DonaldTrump, a man with a bloody target on his back.

If anyone here starts to feel sorry for their selves, just look around at some of our folks who have real trials to bear. If that's not your cup of tea, look at the
victimized citizens of North Korea, who are 10 inches shorter than those in South Korea, but are brained washed to sincerely believe they have a REALLY GREAT life thanks to the "Dear Leader."

I think Mr. Melton should be considered for the city council post. But with all due respect for Mr. Melton, I think Mrs. Clark was the next highest vote getter in the recent election.

On the subject of Mansions paying for their selves...
We all know that Kings and Queens and Nobles of Europe had to open up their Mansions and Castles to tourist to help pay for their upkeep.
It is known history that those Nobles of Europe often resorted to marrying the daughters of fabulously wealthy men of America. You do what you have to do. Compromise.
The question to Washington, is do yu want these beautiful old Mansions of Washington to survive or not? They can pay for themselves if we let them. Mr Rorie should assist the City govt and its citizens to try thinking "out of the box."
The elitist of Washington, should try living on my street for a few days. I have to tolerate PROGRESS, they should too.
