Commented on ‘HANG TOUGH’: Trump Calls On Americans To Ride Out Tariff Storm, Predicts ‘Historic’ InvestmentsI once listened to the Business Scions about so-called Free Trade; all without examining the finer details, and then I realized, these self-interested business types were just in it exclusively for themselves, and say anything to "talk their book."
It is time in the Republic to be a patriot; think like a patriot; act as a patriot; learn to listen those that have that very real calling of a patriot.

Power grabs by arrogant judges are a threat to our Constitutional Republic, and a much bigger one than January 6. In my view these Obama and Biden judges should be treated as criminal accessories of the foreign terrorist crime gangs they are protecting and punished accordingly. These rogue dictator judges should be sharing the same cells as their MS13 and TdA buddies. Lock them up.

The UK's National Health Service also understands biology when in comes to gender. They shut down so-called "gender affirming care" for minors instructing medical providers that most gender confused children grow out of their confusion and conform to their biological gender, and that medical providers should not recommend surgery, drugs, or even new names or pronouns.

Letitia James had a lot of gall to make up fake charges on Trump when she was the one actually engaged in mortgage fraud in two different states. She appears to have told at least three lies to get better rates, 1) that she was married to her own father, 2) that an investment property in Virginia was her "primary residence" when she was registered to vote and elected to public office in New York where she actually lived, and 3) that a 5 unit apartment buliding was a 4 unit apartment building. She did not stop with one lie but covered the waterfront.

What we are seeing here with out of control power-drunk Democrat judges is a judicial insurrection or judicial coup d'etat. They have become a serious threat to democracy and need to be punished as severely as military officers who would try to stage a coup. LOCK THEM UP.

Commented on Opinion: Closing S.W. Snowden Is WrongThis whole fiasco is just Cheeseman trying to build his resume for his next job around school consolidation. We saw it with "Cheeseman's Folly", the new monster elementary school in Washington, consolidating two schools. Now we are seeing it south of the river. He apparently has "Free-Spending Frankie" Waters willing to go along with him. This is another assault on the wellbeing of the children of Beaufort County just for Cheeseman's resume building.
The sad thing is that some of our school board members are too stupid or weak to do anything about it. Cheeseman has too many sock puppets on that board.

Commented on Happy Birthday, Hood Richardson!"Here's the Truth" must not have heard Henry Hinton a few days ago on his radio show discussing the outrageous costs of meals at convention hotels in Washington, DC. Those numbers Hood had to pay in DC were in line or even a little less than what Henry encountered at a radio convention in DC. That is likely all too common at convention hotels in big cities generally. One could get a much better breakfast buffet at Golden Corral in Greenville for a lot less money, but that does you no good when you are at a convention in Washington, DC or some other big city.

Commented on Happy Birthday, Hood Richardson!Velma and I still share the memories of coming back from Knott's Island on the flooded roads with Hood. In order to find safer roads, we had to detour into Virginia, then turn back south for home. At Elizabeth City we stopped overnight, because the roads were washed out between there and Beaufort County. What an adventure. That's just one of many.
Many people know how tenacious Hood is in politics. Fewer know how generous he is with his time and resources. Happy Birthday Hood. Charles and Velma Hickman

Commented on Happy Birthday, Hood Richardson!Happy Birthday Hood. It’s always interesting to me that people think because you vote to lower taxes, you are automatically a good steward. Going all the way to Washington DC on the taxpayers dime is such an accomplishment. Kudos. It’s also quite interesting that the employees are held to a strict per dime that doesn’t even cover meals while ALL commissioners eat high on the hog. Them $40 breakfasts and $50 dinners on the taxpayers dime isn’t being a good steward. It’s giving “do as I say, not as I do”. It’s amazing what a public information request reveals.

Commented on Happy Birthday, Hood Richardson!Hood Richardson has always been a stalwart friend of the taxpayers on the county commission and a steadfast foe of waste and fraud in government. We need more like him (and less like spendthrifts Ed Booth, Frankie Waters, Randy Walker, and Jerry Langley).

Commented on Happy Birthday, Hood Richardson! As Beaufort County's other long "term" serving Conservative county commissioner, I am most happy count Hodd Richardson as not only my friend, but an inspiration as he is Beaufort County's hardest working county commissioner, and that includes myself, as I never allow hubris to get the better of me.
My hope for Hood, and us all here in Beaufort County, is that the venerable Commissioner shall enjoy a long and healthy life, and that we, Conservatives, keep Hood Richardson serving our best interests on the Beaufort County Board of Commissioners.

Commented on Happy Birthday, Hood Richardson!Great piece Buzz. May I add a hearty "Amen" to what you wrote...and added: Another thing about Hood that I have come to learn over the last few years working with him on the Beaufort Observer is this: He is the most principled government official I have ever known personally. I have seen him work through political issues and the distinguishing characteristics that come through are honor and integrity. I can honestly say I have never known him to be dishonest in word or deed...and I think that says alot about a political figure who has been "tested by fire." Finally, a word to those who are tempted to misunderstand Hood's "personality," I've found it instructive of him when I saw how he performed when he chaired the interim Hospital Board. He was a totally different persona than he has been as a minority member of the BOC. He is truly a "leader for all seasons." Hood's brilliance and commitment to honesty has served Beaufort County well and I am proud to call him "friend."

Commented on Happy Birthday, Hood Richardson! We traditionally think of, or define, a politician as someone who will say anything or do anything to get elected or gain power. On the other hand, a statesman is someone who represents the people and does everything within their power for the common good. To be called a statesman is a sign of high respect for that person’s integrity. James Freeman Clarke said, “A politician thinks of the next election. A statesman, of the next generation.” The citizens of Beaufort County are fortunate to have a true statesman, Hood Richardson, representing them. Happy birthday Hood! Thank you for everything you do, and continue to do, to make Beaufort County the truly remarkable place we are fortunate to call home!

"Little Napoleon" Cheeseman is a power bully, but the only reason he has so much power is that we have so many weak people on the School Board. Two members are little more than seat warmers. Two are all talk and no "do". A fifth one is somewhere in between. Those five comprise the majority that lets Cheeseman do whatever he wants. It is Cheeseman's bullying that is the threat to Snowden.

One more thing for Ray Leary: Thank-you for coming up with the 9 month principle motif, which would reduce the cost to keep Snowden open to 30,000.00 a year.
Hood brought it up at the last commissioners' meeting and I instantly thought it was a genius plan. I do have to wonder why the BCS administration, which includes their school board did not come up with it first. Thanks again Ray Leary for your fine civic awareness.

The weak Beaufort County School Board cannot understand that Cheeseman is hired help. Students are opting for private schools and homeschooling due to the failure of our public schools. Just like successful companies, it all goes back to management. Ego and passive-aggressive bullying is not management.

It seems to me that of the 19 or so questions being asked, all except 2 should be seriously considered. Many of us know that even though Dr. Horton drives in from out of town, she is working very hard for the school. Same with board member Hickman who is a resident of the area. He is the only board member that regularly shows up at Snowden School.
Other than that, I guess I'm most aware of question number eight. I do think the community is wondering about the county support of the school when they go long periods of time without a custodian and heating and air conditioning problems in the middle school extending over the course of two school years. In fact, I've heard that Dr. Horton has recently been on her hands and knees scrubbing the hallways of the entire school. I also know that Mr. Hickman has brought some of his own fans for the CTE Lab after these known problems have not been addressed. With the school staff and local volunteers receiving so little support from the county office, parents must be wondering just how committed Beaufort County is to their community. "Target of Politically Expedient Closure?" looks like a real serious possibility. If it was not wouldn't the school system be trying to inspire the confidence of parents instead of doing just the opposite? Then read the WDN front page article of late. Clearly, some of Beaufort County's elected officials are not advocates of community schools. A few of our elected officials do support the community schools. We need to support them.

This power grab by a rogue UN agency must be stopped. UN agencies have no power to tax anyone for anything. The US must immediately withdraw from this specific agency, and we should withhold a significant part of our UN dues from them, say 50%, until this stops.
