Jones Honored for Leadership in Healthcare Innovation

WASHINGTON, D.C.     Today, Congressman Walter B. Jones (NC-3) was honored as a "Champion of Healthcare Innovation" by the Healthcare Leadership Council (HLC), a coalition of leaders of healthcare companies and organizations from across the nation. The HLC presents the award annually to lawmakers who display a commitment to patient-centered medical progress.

"I am honored to receive the Champion of Healthcare Innovation award from the HLC," said Congressman Jones. "As Congress addresses the problems facing our healthcare system today, including new issues that have arisen under Obamacare, I will continue to support solutions that put patients first."

Jones Again Opposes U.S. Aid to Ukraine

WASHINGTON, D.C.     Today, Congressman Walter B. Jones (NC-3) voted against the Ukraine Support Act (H.R. 4278), which would obligate the United States to send $70 million in foreign aid to Ukraine despite the fact that the American national debt is over $17 trillion.

"America must end our reckless cycle of spending money that we do not have and borrowing billions of dollars from foreign governments – only to funnel that borrowed money back overseas in the form of aid to countries like Ukraine," said Congressman Jones. "As of January 2014, the United States had borrowed over $131 billion from Russia, meaning that the aid we are sending to Ukraine is actually coming from the very country we claim to be opposing. This type of irresponsible fiscal policy only serves to burden future generations of American taxpayers with a crushing foreign debt."
