    Mrs. Core Lee Hill Carter, 73, a resident of Blounts Creek, NC passed on Saturday, April 19, 2014.

    A Memorial service will be held Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 7 p.m. at St. Anna Missionary Baptist Church in Blounts Creek, NC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private ceremony for the family will occur later to spread her ashes and allow her to continue to travel this world.

    Miss Cora known by so many was a very spirited and energetic woman, she was a friend and angel among all. She was born June 5, 1940 to the late Catherine and James A. Hill, both of Blounts Creek, NC. She graduated from SW Snowden High School. She was preceded in death by her parents, late husband, Julius Carter and sister Lena Bell Williams.

    She is survived by her special & dear friend of nine plus years, Mr. Elbert 'Mr. Bud' Foreman. Her brother William M. Hill Sr. and wife Reathia of Blounts Creek; brother James A. Hill Jr. and wife Ruth of Laurel, Delaware; and close friend, considered a 'brother' Frederick E. Hill of Greensboro, NC. Her children, daughter Valarie Bullock and husband Charles Bullock Sr. of Blounts Creek; son Charles "Noland" Gettis of London, England; daughter Vell Gettis Johnson of Houston, TX; and a honorary son and friend Daniel Williams of Monroe, NC. Grandchildren, Norene D. Gettis of Houston, TX; Vanna C. Thuston and husband Trever of Houston, TX; Charles Bullock Jr of Blounts Creek; James C. Bullock of Fort Raleigh, KS; Alec N. Mandell of Tampa, FL; Chantelle Way of Poole, England; Charles A. Meyer of Ibiza, Spain; and Jack Gettis of London, England; and her darling great-granddaughter, Londyn C. Frazier of Houston, TX. She had a host of dear nieces and nephews, relatives, and many numerous friends. The family would also like to acknowledge a special close friend Lisa Minor of Edwards, who was like a daughter to her as well.

    Cora L. Carter moved to New York after graduating high school where she pursued a lengthy career for the state of New York as a parking enforcement officer. When she retired she moved back home to North Carolina, she did numerous things for the community to include being an advocate for the Blind Center in Washington NC and a dedicated member of the Seniors' community. She will be missed by many and loved by ALL!

    John 14:1-4 "Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going." The family would like to acknowledge Miss Cora's commitment to The Lord and Savior, she is with Him now and we are comforted in the truth of His word.     The family will receive friends at the home. Arrangements are by Whitfield and Whitley.
