Why has the South gone Republican? | Eastern North Carolina Now

    I was blessed with a wise and intelligent father who saw behind all things SBC and Southern. He went to Mercer under threat from the little ladies of Moon's Grove Baptist Church outside Athens that "they will ruin your faith!" His nickname at Mercer was "Socrates" because he asked question after question until his fundamentalist opponent of "literal nature of the Bible" went out far enough on the limb that he could cut it out from under him!

    At Emory, I encountered "cultural relativism" in Sociology. I had to admit the my Baptist Preacher son southern arrogance was false and there were other ways to do things than our SS and church and community of the small town outlook. Atlanta has now become international and the threat to Southern rednecks is more than real---so they pass a carry law in GA to let them have the power they are losing to "those damn immigrants."

    A basic rule of Personality Development is that Fear leads to Regression or Aggression. You become infantile and "want what you want when you want it" / or you kill and maim anyone who sees or acts differently = the bane of humanity from the Creation. My own brother was mad at me over my insistence that wall colors be carefully painted by the brush and neither he nor daddy were willing to do such! Since their bad paint techniques were going to be permanent, I felt right to say "I will do it if you won't."

    Charles had the 2X4 / teeth clinched / anger to his toes and was ready to hit me any way he could. My mind was already prepared to run toward him and knee him in the nuts and kick more, if necessary, until he writhed in pain and let go the timber.

    Daddy suddenly sank to the floor in abject tears crying over his 2 sons about to really hurt each other. That was enough for me to consider how foolish it all was. Not so and not that fast for Charles, because anger stops all logical thinking. It did not happen ONLY because Daddy cried in agony to his soul over his 2 boys!

    God has done the same as he has sent Prophets and his only Son to die in our stead. Yet, the words of Prophets soon get turned back with selective use of those words to allow those not smitten continue their death and maiming to one another.

    Until the end of the age, this is human nature fighting a pitched battle against the Will of the Creator of us all. I think human nature is the product of Satan, himself.

    I am glad I live in Bath where things are peaceful and far more simple than the constant angst of Metropolitan living. Man is just so selfish that he wants to falsely believe that he is right and all others are wrong and deserve to be eliminated from life.

    How I wish we could find a way, but I fear it will never be found throughout society. I live on dirt once trod and fished/hunted by the Pamlico Indians. They were a peaceful tribe among themselves. They fiercely fought when the White Man took it and shot them when they did not give to their new "masters." The arrogance of British settlers was great. They quickly forgot how they had been abused by the wealthy and powerful of England, yet did the exact same thing to their new brothers across the ocean.

    How God must shed tears over what his created have done to his creation! If only we would stop and hear the anguish and tears from Almighty God!
