    Wednesday, June 4, 2014       Boardwalk Hike       10:00 am

    Come take a look at the hardwood swamp that is slowly transitioning to a marsh and see what kind of animals call this spot home. Meet at the visitor center.

    Saturday, June 7, 2014       National Trails Day – Live Oak Trail Hike       2:00 pm

    Celebrate National Trails Day with an approximately ½ mile hike along the Pamlico River and through a live oak natural community. Meet in the 3rd parking lot.

    Wednesday, June 11, 2014       Animal Tracks       2:00 pm

    We will be making animal track books to take home and then exploring the animal tracks on the Huckleberry Trail. Meet in the River Access Picnic Area (2nd parking lot). Please call ahead to reserve your animal track book at the park office (252) 923-2191. In case of inclement weather, this program will then meet at the visitor center to complete the animal track books and the hike will be postponed.

    Friday, June 13, 2014       Movies with the Stars: Frozen       9:00 pm

    School’s out and this is a great way to kick off the summer with your kids. Join us as we watch the new movie Frozen while relaxing under the stars. We will be showing the movie in Flicker Field located across the street from our visitor center. Bring your own drinks, snacks, blankets, chairs and insect repellent.

     Saturday, June 14, 2014       National Get Outdoors Day – Ivy Gut Hike       2:00 pm

    Put down the TV remote and get outdoors. Meet at the Ivey Gut parking lot for an approximate two-mile hike along the Ivy Gut Trail that parallels Goose Creek.

    Saturday, June 21, 2014       Constellations       2:00 pm

    Meet at the park visitor center to learn about different constellations that can be viewed during the summer solstice and find out how to locate the North Star. Participate in making your very own constellation tube. Please call ahead to reserve your constellation tube at the park office (252) 923-2191. All ages welcomed.

    Saturday, June 21, 2014       Storytelling       7:00 pm

    Visit Goose Creek State Park and listen to amazing stories told by local story tellers. We will be meeting in Flicker Field located across from the visitor center. We will have a nice fire to help set the mood for our engaging story tellers. Please bring your own chair, blanket, water and insect repellent.

    Sunday, June 22, 2014       Snakes       2:00 pm

    Meet at the park visitor center to get up close with some live snakes. Learn more about the snakes and the species that are in Eastern North Carolina. Even get to meet an exotic species during this special presentation! All ages are welcomed.

    Tuesday, July 1, 2014       Aquatic Life of the Pamlico       2:00 pm

    Learn about the habits and life cycles of some of the aquatic creatures that live in the Pamlico River and Goose Creek. Meet at the visitor center.

    Wednesday, July 2, 2014       Fire Starting       2:00 pm

    Learn different methods of fire starting and fire building. Adult supervision required. This program is weather permitting. Meet in the campground at campsite #1.

    Tuesday, July 8, 2014       Goose Creek State Park Overview       2:00 pm

    We will have a power point presentation that will feature some of our wonderful natural communities and recreational opportunities. Meet at the visitor center.

    Wednesday, July 9, 2014       Wetlands       2:00 pm

    Learn more about the benefits of wetlands. See a hands-on demonstration of how wetlands work. And then watch a fun and informative Disney production on Wetlands (video is approximately 25 minutes long). Meet at the park visitor center.

    Friday, July 11, 2014       Movies with the Stars: The Goonies       9:00 pm

    Create your own adventure with your family by joining us for a special feature of The Goonies. We will be showing the movie in Flicker Field located across the street from our visitor center. Bring your own drinks, snacks, blankets, chairs and insect repellent.

    Sunday, July 13, 2014       Beginner Camping Experience       Anytime between 1:00 - 3:00 pm

    There will be s’mores and a full campsite displayed. Perfect for families interested in finding out more about camping and introducing their children to what it would look like to stay in a tent. This program is weather permitting. Meet in the campground at campsite #1.

    Tuesday, July 15, 2014       Discovery Room       2:00 pm

    Come see examples of many of the mammals, reptiles, amphibians and birds that live in the different habitats at Goose Creek State Park. Meet in the visitor center.

    Wednesday, July 16, 2014       Moonlight Paddle       9:00 pm

    This kayaking trip is sure to give you a memory of a lifetime. We will be paddling through Goose Creek as the beautiful moon and stars reflect off the water. Space is limited, so pre-registration is required. Please call (252) 923-2191 for more information and to register.

    Friday, July 18, 2014       Movies with the Stars: Spiderwick Chronicles       9:00 pm

    Turn your creative side on while enjoying the mysterious and adventure packed movie, The Spiderwick Chronicles. This movie is great for people of all ages, and it can only get better by viewing it under the beautiful night sky. Bring your own drinks, snacks, blankets, chairs and insect repellent. We will be showing the movie in Flicker Field located across the street from our visitor center.

    Tuesday, July 29, 2014       Fire and the Longleaf Pine       2:00 pm

    We will show a video that will explore the nature of a very special habitat, the longleaf pine savanna with its amazing stories of biodiversity, interdependence and dependence on fire. We’ll also take a look at some of the equipment used on burn operations and some of the effects that fire has on the park. Meet in the visitor center.
