    Lyda Woolard Maloney, age 95, a resident of Yarmouth Rd., New Bern, NC, passed away Saturday, October 11, 2014 at CarolinaEast Medical Center. Lyda was born in Beaufort County, NC on August 22, 1919 daughter of the late Will Frank Woolard and Lelia Grey Cutler. After graduation from high school she married John F. "Pat" Maloney who preceded her in death. Lyda worked as a sales clerk for Carter's Dress Shop and Marguerite's. She was a member of Beaver Dam Church of Christ.

    Lyda is survived by her children, Mindy M. Walker and husband Rusty of New Orleans and John F. Maloney, Jr. and wife Sherry of New Bern; her sisters, Mrs. Leroy "Jennie" Waters of Washington, NC and Sue Sharpe and husband Noble of Memphis, TN; her brother, Hilton Woolard and wife Johnnie of Jacksonville, FL; her granddaughters, Mrs. Hollie Maloney Burgess (Mark), Mrs. Ginny Walker Guillory (Adam), Emmy Walker (Scott Quijano) and Mrs. Katy Walker Gros (Darren); and her great grandchildren, Brianna and Brandon Burgess, Samuel and Ella Guillory, Jaxson and Liam Gros and Collin and Jadyn Quijano. She is also survived by her very dear companion, Mr. Paul Clary of New Bern.

    In addition to her parents and husband, Lyda was preceded in death by her sister, Mrs. Harvey "Beulah" Harris Woolard, and her brothers, Cornelius H. Woolard, Will Woolard, and Joseph Woolard.

    A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 pm, today, in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service officiated by Tony Krantz. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Her nephews, Jerry Waters, Frankie Waters, Ronnie Harris, Lane Harris, Keith Sharpe and her son, John Maloney, Jr. will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, prior to the service.

    Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made in Lyda's memory to Beaver Dam Church of Christ, 5125 Hwy 264 E., Washington, NC 27889.
