Conservative Fist Fight | Eastern North Carolina Now

Now we are a few days after the disclosure of Torture with CIA in charge. It was done, not only at Guantanamo, but at various dark locations around the world used to get intelligence from terrorist prisoners of the United States.

The discussion between O'Reilly and John McCain was most interesting:

Normally, Senator McCain can be relied upon to vet the Conservative line on "all things Obama." This time things were far different. The Senator has personal experience with terrible torture in his Hanoi Hilton stay. He endured long hours of unspeakable torture when he was already badly injured from his ejection and shoot down over Hanoi. Broken bones and a rifle butt to it leave permanent pain as weather gets cold for the rest of your life.

O'Reilly's worst similar torture is likely having diarrhea and being unable to relieve himself before going on air for Fox. That would be a minor version of enema re hydration which was used in addition to water boarding.

For me, the noise torture technique was replicated in this interview.

When two abject conservatives rant non-stop --- in opposition this time --- it is most interesting! O'Reilly is obviously perplexed because his buddy, John, won't give up and say what he wants him to say: "Torture is OK for Terrorists." After all, they were responsible for blowing up the Twin Towers and we want to know the whereabouts of Osama bin Laden.

It is obvious to me that, since it took another Administration to bring ben Laden to a death by Navy SEAL firing squad, the use of torture did not produce any "actionable results." Senator McCain states such over and over and O'Reilly continues the noise torture ad nauseam.

Despite all the torture technique on air, McCain holds his line without too much flinching. You can tell he would love to give O'Reilly's Irish ire a punch in the groin, but, after all, McCain is an Officer and a Gentleman! I note the constant clinching of his jaw by the Senator. His steely stare into the camera bespeaks an iron will to show he personally KNOWS that TORTURE DOES NOT PRODUCE GOOD INTELLIGENCE.

It would have been complete if Fox News had simply ended the session by letting them put on some boxing gloves and have at it. Wouldn't that be lovely!

All I can really say is, "Velly Interesting." I can't wait to see the follow-ups of today. Conservatives never quit the rant any more than do naughty children whose parents are trying to direct them to good behavior.

My parents got out the belt or sent me to get a switch and bring it back to momma. Time Out was not in their book of correction technique. I quickly discovered it was far wiser to say "Yes sir/ma'am or No sir/ma'am." Further use of my five-year-old arrogance was a total waste!

Did either of them ever learn the lesson of "behave yourself or else . . ."????

That's my thinking --- "from the middle." What is yours?

poll#61
Regarding the recent Senate Interrogation Report, should America's Intelligence agency have not used enhanced interrogation, on nearly 40 suspected terrorists, to extract valuable information in the wake of 9/11?
8.51%   Yes, the destruction of the twin towers and nearly 3,000 American lives does not justify this.
87.94%   No, I actually remember 9/11, and I am thankful for my government keeping my family safe.
3.55%   I don't remember 9/11 or I just don't care, and I have the freedom to enjoy my apathy.
141 total vote(s)     Voting has Ended!

I think we 'fessed up to the Japanese disaster and it was a similar reaction to 9/11. It DID NOT involve torture inside our borders.

The torture took place in Japan and Germany~~~and was tried and punished clearly as we walked away from WWII without denying the justice given those who tortured.

This time around, it is US and we deserve to lose face in the world or deal with it on the same moral ground as that of WWII. Listen carefully to the way Senator McCain is not side tracked with the drone defense of total BS. He clearly cited the drone as similar to carpet bombing to let the German populace know they bombed London and other places and they get the same in return.

If the world gives our citizens and soldiers "the same" we are in the deepest do-do of our nation's history. It needs both exposure and charges against those who turned torture lose = CIA / Bush / Cheney / etc. NEVER turn your head on immorality of the slippery slope sucks you down to HELL.

Gene... you're not in the middle.

This is very complex, and happened during a time of war. Many believe that there was itelligence yielded and that this is a democrat hit job... maybe. Usually the truth lies somewhere in the middle. What do you think about the collateral damage in drone attacks... where thousands have been killed, including women and children? Which the democrat leadership favors... And what do you think about the FDR, who is the Icon of liberalism, interring 120k Japanese and Japanese Americans, within 6 months of the start of WWII? Easy to 2nd guess, or Monday morning quarterback down the road... And I don't have the hard and fast opinions about who is right and wrong on this subject... because 1. I run restaurants for a living.... 2. I don't have the details that either those 4 or again have...

My 2 cents.
Merry Christmas
