Kirk offers recollections, assessments from a career in government


    RALEIGH     Phil Kirk has seen nine N.C. governors in action, from his days as a student Republican Club leader, state senator, two-time cabinet chief, chief of staff to two governors and a U.S. senator, chairman of the State Board of Education, head of North Carolina's largest business group, lobbyist, and private citizen.

    Kirk offered his recollections and assessments of each governor during a presentation Monday to the John Locke Foundation's Shaftesbury Society. In the video clip below, Kirk discusses current Gov. Pat McCrory, whom he's known since their days as Catawba College trustees.
