Booger was born in Beaufort County on September 2, 1948 son of the late Truman and Vivian Craig Harris. He graduated from Bath High School. On February 25, 1970 he entered the United States Army and served his country honorably in the Vietnam War. Booger was happiest hunting, fishing, cooking for a crowd and telling a wild tale of one of his adventures. His love for hunting, fishing and the luck and knowledge he had of both allowed him to live his dream of being a professional hunting and fishing guide for over 25 years at Pungo Acres Hunting Retreat. During these years he met many friends that shared his love and each one contributed to his stories. Hunting or fishing with Booger allowed him to "Boogerize" you. This simply means you had the opportunity to see the larger than life full spirited personality of a kind hearted man that once you were exposed to his energy, you kept coming back for more just to see what would happen next. During the years at Pungo Acres many people came to hunt and fish with a man named Booger and his best friend Larry Paul. The family asks if you have a fond memory or story of Booger to share it with your friends and also, with his family. You may email them to dana@gotricounty.com or mail them to his daughter Dana Brooks, 255 Brooks Rd., Bath N.C. 27808.

On September 2, 2006, Booger married his soulmate Jade Moore Harris who shared his love of hunting and fishing. Together they traveled to catch the biggest fish or biggest set of horns.

Surviving with his wife, are a daughter, Dana Brooks and husband, Johnathan of Bath; a son, Martin Truman Harris of Key West, Florida and a stepson, Rob Moore of Winterville; grandchildren, Chase L. Brooks, Zane Harris Brooks of Bath, step-grandchildren, Travis and Jackson Moore of Winterville, three brothers, Neil Harris of Manteo, Morgan Harris and wife Margaret of Bethel and Terry Harris and wife Linda of Autryville and sister Nell Harris Howell and husband Vernon of Washington.

The family will have a celebration of life visitation and cookout at his home following the service Thursday for family and close friends.

Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, P. O. Box 1525, Ranson, WV 25438-0018, Pinetown Fire Dept., P.O. Box 56, Pinetown, N.C. 27865 or Bath Fire Dept., P.O. Box 272, Bath, N.C. 27808.
