Weekend Full of Local Fun: Umbrella Market Farm Tour | Eastern North Carolina Now

    GREENVILLE, NC     The Uptown Greenville Umbrella Market announces the annual Umbrella Market Farm Tour will take place from Friday, June 26 to Sunday, June 28, with the following eight farms participating: Bennett Vineyards (Edward), Spring Run Market (Greenville), Renston Garden Market (Winterville), Simply Natural Creamery (Ayden), Parnell Farms (Williamston), Oak Wood Farm (Deep Run), Brock's Berries & Produce Farm (Winterville), and Southside Farms (Chocowinity).

    The Farm Tour promises to be a weekend filled with music, fresh produce, farm animals and more! All participating farms will be open to the public and will feature unique offerings providing attendees a chance to learn about our local food economy while learning more about farming.

    Each participating farm has created their own schedule for attendees to visit and experience a weekend filled with activities and events for children and adults alike. Attendees can also expect a variety of delicious treats from produce, pork chops, jams and jellies, and homemade ice cream.

    "The farmers are always excited to have Umbrella Market customers visit their farms," said Uptown Greenville Umbrella Market Manager, Robin Ashley. "The tour gives that extra personal touch that you can't get at a market. It is a great opportunity to see both the hard work and rewards of farming."

    Bennett Vineyards

    Saturday, June 27 - Open 10:00am - 4:00pm
    Sunday, June 28 - Open 1:00pm to 5:00pm

    Bennett Vineyards creates wines with the Muscadine and Scuppernong grapes native to the region. Stop by for a tour and a tasting. Tastings will start at the top of every hour with the last tasting being one hour from closing. There is a special on a case of wine for $120.

    Brock's Berries & Produce Farm
    978 Laurie Ellis Rd Winterville
    Saturday, June 27 - Open 8:00am - 1:00pm

    We are a local and family owned agricultural business providing you the highest quality produce in the area. Located on our multiple acre farm, our family farm offers a huge selection of local fresh produce. At Brock's Farm you will find a wide range of seasonal crops. In addition to produce, we also make preserves, pies, and honey.

    Oak Wood Farm
    793 Nobles' Mill Road, Deep Run
    Saturday, June 27 - Open 1:00pm - 3:00pm

    Inspired by our roots, Oak Wood Farm raises hogs to high standards in the most natural and humane environment we can provide. Lots to choose from such as pork chops, sausage, ribs, roast, etc.

    Parnell Farms
    2926 Lee Road, Williamston

    Saturday, June 27 - Open 10:00am - 7:00pm

    The farm will offer any of their sausages for $5 per pound for farm tour guests. They have mild country sausage, bratwurst, chorizo and andouille. They will have a variety of fresh vegetables and homemade jams and jellies. Their newest addition Mason, a baby miniature donkey, will be on the farm. Also see their baby miniature mule, Jim, the goats, chickens, pigs and miniature horses too. There are cut outs for photo ops and a great yard to play in.

    Pick-your-own blueberries. Also peaches, corn, tomatoes and other vegetables for sale.

    Simply Natural Creamery
    1265 Carson Edwards Rd, Ayden

    Saturday, June 27 - Open 10:00am - 9:00pm
    Sunday, June 28 - Open 1:30 - 9:00pm

    Local farm and creamery with an ice cream parlor. The ice cream is made on the farm. Also milk, butter, and other dairy products for sale.

    Southside Farms

    Mention the Umbrella Market Farm Tour and Southside will give you 10% off your total purchase. Southside has Grandma Betty's homemade ice cream as well as all the fresh produce growing on the farm.

    Grand Opening Celebration Thursday, June 25 - Saturday, June 27!
    Thursday, June 25 - The celebration kicks off with a Ribbon Cutting at 4:00pm. All are welcome to attend and enjoy some tasty and healthy finger foods afterwards.
