    On 1-14-2016, investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Drug Unit arrested James Albert Bryant, 32 years of age, of 324 Fisher Village Road in Aurora, Johnnie Alson Pender Jr., 20 years of age, of Bowen Road in Aurora and Kristen Love Jones, 22 years of age, of 31 Rebecca Road in Grantsboro.

    Bryant was charged with three (3) counts of Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Heroin, two (2) counts of Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Sell and Deliver Heroin, Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

    Pender was charged with Possession of Heroin, Carrying a Concealed Gun and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

    Jones was charged with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Heroin, Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

    Their arrest stemmed from Investigators conducting a traffic stop on Bryant after obtaining arrest warrants on Bryant for Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Heroin. Pender and Jones were passengers in Bryant's vehicle. Investigators conducted a search and found cocaine, heroin and a 38 revolver pistol hidden underneath Pender's coat.

    Bryant was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $60,000.00 secured bond. Pender and Jones were confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $15,000.00 secured bond.

On Monday, April 13, 2026, the Beaufort County Grand Jury returned a True Bill of Indictment against 24-year-old Brady O’Neil Daniels of Wallace, NC, charging him with the murder of Billy Joe Bell in 2023.
On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call in a wooded area near Pamlico Plantation in Washington NC.
In the past month, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Patrol and K9 Division have arrested 10 people in the county on felony drug charges.
On December 12, 2025, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested 27-year-old Nikkopenia Terra Echevarria of Washington, NC on multiple felony drug charges.
Beaufort County District Attorney Thomas D. Anglim disclosed that Ryan Austin Stalls was convicted of two counts attempted murder and one count of attempted first degree ex offense and first-degree kidnapping following a guilty plea in Beaufort County on December 9, 2025.
On December 22, 2025, Deputies from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the Aurora/Richlands area for a report of a foul odor coming from inside a rental property where a tenant had previously moved out.
On December 5, 2025, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested 39-year-old, Arnold Gerard Whitney of Belhaven, NC on multiple drug and weapon charges.
On Tuesday December 9th, 2025, 33-year-old Ryan Austin Stalls pled guilty in Beaufort County Superior Court to the following charges:
