The Beaufort County Community College Foundation is sponsoring an eight-day trip to Rhode Island and Massachusetts that will include visits to two of the most renowned islands in the Northeastern United States.

    The Beaufort County Community College Foundation is sponsoring an eight-day trip to Rhode Island and Massachusetts that will include visits to two of the most renowned islands in the Northeastern United States.

    The fully-escorted tour, Islands of New England, is scheduled for June 3 to 10 and is offered by Collette through New Trends in Travel.

    It is also sponsored by the Washington/Beaufort County Chamber of Commerce.

    The cost of the trip is $2,999 per person based on double occupancy at hotels in Providence, R.I., Boston and on Cape Cod, seven breakfasts, 1 lunch and three dinners during the trip, round-trip airfare from Raleigh- Durham International Airport, air taxes and fees and hotel transfers. Transportation to the airport in Raleigh is available.

    A deposit of $250 per person is required at the time of registration. The final payment will be due by April 4.

    The recommended cancellation waiver and insurance is an additional $240 per person. With the insurance, travelers may cancel for any reason up until the day of departure.

    The itinerary includes a flight from Raleigh-Durham International Airport to Providence, R.I., a stay in Boston, Mass., and four nights on Cape Cod. The trip will end in Cape Cod, where participants are scheduled to stay at Red Jacket Resorts, Blue Water, Cape Cod.

    Travelers will also have the chance to visit Newport, R.I., home to many oceanfront mansions built as "summer cottages" for wealthy Americans during the Guilded Age including Marble House, summer home of Mr. and Mrs. William Vanderbilt. Travelers will stroll along part of the famed Freedom Trail in Boston, visit a cranberry bog on Cape Cod and take ferries to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. A visit to the artist colony at Provincetown, Mass., and a whale watch cruise top off the adventure.
