Dodge Ball For Deborah Ross | Eastern North Carolina Now

Press Release:

Raleigh, NC     It has been a rough week for Deborah Ross on the interview front. In four separate instances, Ross was either asked a question multiple times before finally answering or she flat out refused to answer the proposed question all together.

The origins of Ross' bad week can be traced to a WRAL interview that aired on Sunday morning. Ross started out the interview by dodging questions about her radical career as the top lobbyist for the ACLU in North Carolina...

WRAL: "The GOP has hammered Ross in ads and news releases for her work with the state chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union. She left the organization as state president in 2002 and spent the next decade in the state House."

"Ross called the ACLU attacks a 'smokescreen'..."

Later in the interview, Ross had a cringe-worthy exchange with WRAL reporter Laura Leslie in which Ross was asked if Hillary Clinton was trustworthy. Ross was called out for "parsing" her words before finally saying Clinton was trustworthy...

The rest of the week didn't get much better for Ross as she was dogged by more questions about her career with the ACLU. When WXII's Margaret Johnson asked Ross about her fight against the creation of the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry she dodged the question all together...

Ross capped off her week of evasive tactics by refusing to give Reuters a clear answer today on whether Apple should provide the FBI with access to unencrypted data of potential terrorists.

Reuters: "Ross, a lawyer and former state legislator, has not clarified whether she sides with Apple in its dispute with the FBI. In a statement to Reuters, she said that 'protecting our law abiding citizens' privacy doesn't mean sacrificing our security.'"

During Ross' brief time as a statewide candidate she has demonstrated an uncanny ability to dodge difficult questions and obfuscate her answers to mask her level of inexperience on the rare occasion she does field a question about a serious issue facing our country.
