Jones Wins Campaign Finance Reform Award | Eastern NC Now

Tonight at the National Citizen Leadership Conference (NCLC), Congressman Walter B. Jones (NC-3) will be presented the 1st Annual Congressional Leadership Award by American Promise, the nation's leading advocacy group for overturning Citizens United v. FEC.

    WASHINGTON, DC - Tonight at the National Citizen Leadership Conference (NCLC), Congressman Walter B. Jones (NC-3) will be presented the 1st Annual Congressional Leadership Award by American Promise, the nation's leading advocacy group for overturning Citizens United v. FEC. The award is presented to former and current members of Congress who advocate for fair representation in government for the people. Following the award presentation, the recipients will take part in a panel discussion.

    "The Citizens United and SpeechNow.org decisions have completely altered the dynamic of elections and governance. Deep pocketed special interests now have more influence than ever," said Congressman Jones. "I am honored to be a recipient of American Promise's Congressional Leadership Award, and I look forward to discussing the importance of curbing the power of special interests in Washington."
