It is just a beauty pageant - Or at least it used to be | Eastern North Carolina Now

   The feminist have always attacked beauty contest as demeaning to women and now they have chosen a beauty contestant winner to represent them in their battle against the owner of a beauty contest. You must apply through your local state or national chapter of the pageant.

   Let me see if I have this correct.    

• Donald Trump owned the Miss Universe pageant
• It is a beauty contest.
• Contestants compete based on appearance only.
• The winner represents the pageant around the world.
• The brand is the image projected by the winner.
• The winner is expected to represent the pageant for one year as an example of beauty.
• There is no talent competition in the pageant.

Notice the last line: There is no performing talent competition and no previous pageant experience is necessary.

    And after all this, the owner is not allowed to ask the winner to lose some weight to fit the image she had when she won the contest.

    So we have a "BEAUTY CONTEST WHERE THE WINNER IS NOT REQUIRED TO HAVE ANY TALENT AND IS EXPECTED TO STAY BEAUTIFUL AFTER SHE WINS FOR BEING BEAUTIFUL AND THE OWNER IS A SEXIST, MISOGYNIST, HOMOPHOBE, AND DEPLORABLE FOR TELLING HER TO LOSE SOME WEIGHT!"

Should Americans be thankful for North Carolinians setting precedent in taking a stand for their state's right to manage the safety of their public facilities, where separation of the sexes remains, or should they follow Bruce Springsteen's lead and boycott the state as bigots since they will not allow grown Transgender men to use the same bathrooms /locker rooms as pre-pubescent girls?

  North Carolina is right to control the separation of the sexes as a matter of decorum and safety.

  North Carolina is a bigoted state to not require that children of opposite sexes share the same public facilities with adults of the opposite sex, although misidentified - the Transgender.

  I generally prefer the natural environs of the vacant, although rather public, large tree.
