State insurance mandates slow N.C. economic growth



    State mandates cost North Carolina's individual and small-group health insurance customers more than $200 million a year, and special-interest groups continue to push for more mandates every year.

    The N.C. Coalition for Fiscal Health is highlighting the cost of mandates and preparing to fight the next batch of proposed mandates in 2017. Coalition Executive Director Matt Bales discussed the battle over mandates during a presentation Monday for the John Locke Foundation's Shaftesbury Society. Bales highlights mandates' costs in the video clip above.
