On Thursday, the inaugural committee announced that Saturday's and Sundays festivities had been nixed after consulting with the state's emergency management team. A winter storm warning has been issued for the area Friday night and Saturday.

A Council of State oath of office ceremony was planned for 3 p.m. Friday at the Executive Mansion.

The Junior League of Raleigh has canceled its inaugural ball, originally scheduled for Saturday night, and instead will host a reception honoring the governor Friday at 6 p.m. at Marble's Kids Museum in Raleigh.
