Seventy years ago, Americans were recovering from Pearl Harbor and were galvanized to fight for freedom.

Publisher's note: This short opinion piece was sent to BCN by a supporter of candidate Frank Palombo. We extend this same courtesy to Walter Jones, Jr.

Seventy years ago, Americans were recovering from Pearl Harbor and were galvanized to fight for freedom. We must learn from those years of American strength that followed Pearl Harbor. Those Americans saved the American dream and earned the moniker, "Greatest Generation."

Shockingly, our freedom is now under attack from the Obama administration, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and former U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Today we must continue protecting the American dream for future generations.

A larger federal government is incompatible with freedom. By reshaping government with conservative, constitutional solutions, we will protect our country and honor the sacrifices of the Greatest Generation. In traveling eastern North Carolina, I hear people expressing fears that America is in a mess that cannot be fixed. Do not be satisfied with mediocre representation and politics-as-usual. Conservatives are no longer a silent majority. I am working to become your congressman to shrink the government and return authority to the states.

Americans are the world's greatest people and we will overcome our current problems. Please visit my website to learn about my policy solutions to securing our nation's borders, improving our economy, achieving energy independence, valuing our military and preserving our national defense. I am an honest citizen, a conservative leader and I want your support.

Send me to Washington as North Carolina's representative in the 3rd Congressional District and we will propel America forward.
