    Myron Tayloe Hill, Sr. age 89, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the Heart Center at Vidant in Greenville.

    He was born in Chocowinity, N.C. on October 10, 1927 to Sim and Mamie Hill. He attended East Carolina University and worked for 38 years with Commercial National Bank and Wachovia of Kinston. He retired as Vice President.

    Myron married Evelyn Hodges Hill in 1950 and they were married for 66 years.

    He was a charter member of Northwest Christian Church and worshipped there for 58 years. While there, he served as a board chairman (twice) and President of CMF (twice), deacon, financial secretary, treasurer, and liaison for the church Boy Scout Troop. He loved the Scouts.

    Myron was active in both Kiwanis and Golden K Kiwanis Club, serving as President and Treasurer of both. He was the last living member of the committee which founded the Boys and Girls Club of Kinston.

    He was an avid golfer, playing through February of this year. In his earlier years, he played semi-professional baseball. He umpired Little League Baseball at Fairfield Park for 12 years. He truly loved Duke University.

    He served his country in the Korean War and was discharged as Sgt. First Class. He was a member of the American Legion Post.

    Myron is survived by his wife, Evelyn Hill and two children, Stephanie of the home and Myron T. Hill, Jr. of Greenville, NC and two grandsons, Myron Tayloe Hill, III of Raleigh and Garrett Alaric Hill, a rising senior at the College of Charleston in South Carolina, one brother, Theron Hill of Chocowinity and one nephew and two nieces.

    Visitation will be held on Friday night from 5:00-7:00 PM at the home.

    A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church on Rouse Road in Kinston with the Rev. Jon Hoover officiating.

    Graveside burial service will follow at 3:00 PM at Pamlico Memorial Gardens, 161 Avon Avenue in Washington, NC.

    Memorial gifts may be made to the First Baptist Church, 2600 Rouse Road, Kinston, NC 28504 or to the charity of one's choice.
