Are You Ready for Today's Solar Eclipse? I am. | Eastern NC Now

Here in northeastern North Carolina, we will have nearly 90 percent of a full solar eclipse, but it may be cloudy, and, then again, maybe not.

ENCNow
Here in northeastern North Carolina, we will have nearly 90 percent of a full solar eclipse, but it may be cloudy, and, then again, maybe not. Regardless, there will be an unnatural, but natural reaction to the event as the early afternoon of this day cools, and grows dark, which will be quite a phenomenon.

I am hopeful for a clearing day here in Beaufort County, as the sun does seem to be peaking out from behind the fluffy distant clouds of an noncompliant sky. Regardless, I intend to take pictures to record the event as is my nature to do so, irrespective of the sky's ambition to comply with my desire to do so.

In celebration of today's unique event, which will cut a path from Oregon to South Carolina across our states united, I will smooth off any of the rough points that may still remain from my learning the Cat Stevens's classic "Moonshadow". As I have mentioned, there came a time in my older age where playing the guitar seemed to click for me, as I endeavored to play such songs, as the former Cat Stevens (one of my favorite balladeers from my formative years).

Here is a good version of that fine melody, always in the right tune, at this right time, if you care to play it yourself; and, or, enjoy the Cat Steven's video of Moonshadow below the guitar chords /lyrics: Below.

Moonshadow

      by Cat Stevens, 1970

    D Oh, I'm Bein'followed by a moon   G shadow, moonshadow   D, moonshadow---

Leapin and hoppin' on a moonshadow,   G moonsha D dow, moonshadow---

    G And   D if I   D ever   G lose my   D hands,   G lose my D plough,   Em lose my   A7 land,

    Oh   G if I   D ever   G lose my   D hands, Oh   Em if---A7----D---Bm--- I   Em won't have to   A7 work no   D more.

And   G if I   D ever   G lose my   D eyes,   G if my   D coloures   Em all ran   A7 dry,

    Yes   G if I   D ever   G lose my   D eyes, Oh   Em if---A7----D---Bm--- I   Em won't have to   A7 cry no   D more.

    D Oh, I'm Bein'followed by a moon   G shadow, moonshadow   D, moonshadow---

Leapin and hoppin' on a moonshadow,   G moonsha D dow, moonshadow---

    And   G if I   D ever   G lose my   D legs,   G I won't   D moan, and   Em I won't   A7 beg,

    Yes   G if I   D ever   G lose my   D legs, Oh   Em if---A7----D---Bm--- I   Em won't have to   A7 walk no   D more.

E7 Did it take long to   A find me?   E7 I asked the faithful   A light.

E7 Did it take long to   A find me?   E7 And are you gonna stay the   A ni---------ght?   A7

    D Oh, I'm Bein'followed by a moon   G shadow, moonshadow   D, moonshadow---

Leapin and hoppin' on a moonshadow,   G moonsha D dow, moonshadow---
